THE SENSITIVITY OF SENIORS
This letter was sent to the Lions Bay School Principal's office in West Vancouver after the school had sponsored a luncheon for seniors. An elderly lady received a new radio at the lunch as a door raffle prize and was writing to say thank you.

This story is a credit to all humankind. Forward this to anyone you know who might need a lift today...

Dear Lions Bay School:
God bless you for the beautiful radio I won at your recent Senior Citizens luncheon.
I am 89 years old and live at the West Vancouver Home for the Aged.
All of my family has passed away so I am all alone.

I want to thank you for the kindness you have shown to a forgotten old lady.
My roommate is 95 and has always had her own radio. She would never let me listen to it.
She said it belonged to her long dead husband, and understandably, wanted to keep it safe.

The other day her radio fell off the nightstand and broke into a dozen pieces.
It was awful and she was in tears.
Later, she asked if she could listen to mine, and I was overjoyed that I could tell her to fuck off.

Thank you for that wonderful opportunity.
God bless you all.

Sincerely,
Margaret.

So I guess that makes Greatnan a good egg. smile

My gran always used to say eggs are binding!! smile

I often found greatnan's posts to seem somewhat entrenched and left wing for me, but that of course is just my opinion and others will no doubt disagree. Have Movedalot and Mice Elf also moved on to pastures new? I seem to have missed a lot of comings and goings if that is the case.

annodomini Tue 22-Oct-13 14:22:58

What is wrong with sincerely felt opinions - even if you don't happen to agree with them, Ceesnan? I have made no secret of my left-of-centre leanings and you have made no secret of the opposite. We agree to differ. It doesn't have to make us enemies, does it?

Ceesnan Tue 22-Oct-13 14:28:30

No of course it doesn't, and I'm glad of that smile

MiceElf Tue 22-Oct-13 14:51:39

I've just seen this. My 'pastures new' have been the view from a hospital bed and subsequent convalescence.

Lona Tue 22-Oct-13 14:58:35

Hope you're feeling better MiceElf flowers

Ceesnan Tue 22-Oct-13 15:19:24

flowers for MiceElf wishing you speedy recovery

Tegan Tue 22-Oct-13 15:19:45

Sorry to hear that MiceElf; hope you're on the mend. number isn't around as much as usual, although she did post t'other day. Hope she's on the mend too.

I forgave Robin Cook because I had such respect for him as a politician. And realised that it must be difficult for a politician to be based in London for so much of the time and have a family elsewhere. Europeans don't seem to bother so much with the antics of their politicians, but then they don't pretend to be squeaky clean in those countries. Whereas in America so much mileage is gained by proclaiming how religious and happily married they are. If you campaign using those morals you should fall from power if you abuse them. Got to be honest as say that I still have the utmost respect for Bill Clinton as a politician as well so am a bit confused as to how I really feel on the subject. Maybe different people, different circumstances etc etc. Need to think this through a bit.

Tegan Tue 22-Oct-13 15:49:47

oops; wrong thread again blush; must concentrate more!! sorry..

kittylester Tue 22-Oct-13 16:45:00

annodomini Tue 22-Oct-13 16:56:52

No she didn't make a song and dance about it. I'm still in touch with her and she hasn't had any nasty accidents in the Alps. wink

merlotgran Tue 22-Oct-13 17:00:55

That's good news, anno. Just reading some of greatnan's tales of going 'off piste' made my knees ache. grin
