I thought it would be a good idea to open a thread where those of us who are upset by this news can comfort each other. Better to share thoughts here and leave the IMPORTANT thread for on-going efforts to find her.

Carol being Carol I'm sure a few fireworks lit for her tonight as well as the candles will ensure she knows we are all working & hoping for her being found soon.

The lights are shining brightly.

Sorry I don't have any updates at this stage. Although I am so relieved a thorough search is finally under way, I am left feeling helpless and a little loss now that I can do little more for my Nan - I have to trust in the people involved in the search that she will be found. That is why I wanted to thank whoever came up with this idea of lighting the candles. In some small way I was able to once again feel as though I was doing something for Nan in focusing all my energy into that candle & what it symbolised.
I have read through some of the messages left by others and once again am left feeling immensely proud of the person she is and how she has managed to touch so many others. Thank you Gransnetters, for everything, hopefully I'll wake up to good news flowers

GGD - if it has helped in even the smallest way, then that's wonderful.
Thank you for finding a moment to come and talk here.
I have always believed that there are "more things twixt heaven and earth ......etc" ...and that there is great power in the strength of united hope and care. So many people are united for Carol.

I wonder if it might be worth you putting the candle link onto the FB page?

KatyK Tue 05-Nov-13 09:51:36

I will light a candle too. I always do this in times of worry in my family. It is comforting. flowers

GGD - thank you for the update and for your positive words. You are not alone - there are masses of us everywhere who are thinking of Carol and your family. I dip in and out of thoughts for Carol every day, and as I have some idea of the area where she lives I visualise her there, well and waiting to be found. All that positive energy, thought and love is coming your way and is there to sustain you all and Carol too. I can't remember who said "It's better to light a candle that to curse the darkness" but that's so true. There are warm lights in the hearts and minds of all who care for Carol and for you and the family. flowerssunshine

Lara and Heather we all know that your nan is an extraordinarily adventurous woman and loves to share her adventures online, but at her core she is all about family. Her daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren (and their partners) obviously inspire and motivate her. That's how come we feel we know you - she mentions you all frequently and so proudly. I think I can say with certainty that whatever has befallen her, her thoughts went out to her family.
Praying for you and hoping for Carol to be found today. flowers

Ariadne Tue 05-Nov-13 11:30:37

Thanks, Lara and Heather. We're still doing what we can!

harrigran Tue 05-Nov-13 11:36:47

janerowena Tue 05-Nov-13 11:48:07

It is indeed - and there are now 242. I really miss seeing her name on the boards. sad I suspect we are all feeling the same mixture of fear and hope.

Grannyknot Tue 05-Nov-13 12:05:59

All we can do now is embrace the gift of patience.

soop Tue 05-Nov-13 12:16:00

As I looked through the window at a grey scene, there is a part rainbow dipping into the sea. My thoughts are with Carol and those who love and miss her.

merlotgran Tue 05-Nov-13 12:26:35

I'm popping in whenever I can to see if there's any news. Thinking of Carol all the time.
