kitty I sent you [hugs] but 1000 messages later means that we need to open an extension.

It's been a strange day. Apart from worrying about the whereabouts of Greatnan I've not been very productive. The weather is behaving in an unsettled fashion. Inky clouds, Lashing rain. The promise of a brighter sky. Please keep coming to the kitchen. I would miss the company of you lot if you stayed away. smile

glass perhaps a candle in a saucer of water, for safety?

glassortwo Wed 06-Nov-13 23:05:59

Just seen Carol again on Granada TV News. What an awful day it's been, and now her family have to make those arrangements we all want to just go away.

nightowl Wed 06-Nov-13 22:30:56

I must be off to bed now as well. Early start for work tomorrow. Goodnight all moon

nightowl Wed 06-Nov-13 22:29:19

I too was wondering about thatbags, grannyactivist. I do hope she is ok. This news will have hit her hard, and we all deal with things in different ways. Take care thatbags, wherever you are.

Grannylin Don't you just love inventing new words!
Just back from the AGM after which we had a bit of a celebration for about 80 people - am exhausted after playing waitress and clearing up. Now watching Above Suspicion in the hope it will send me to sleep for the second night wink
Such a sad day. Goodnight x

l have just come back infor some more comfort and company. This seems the only warm place anywhere right now. I will raise a glass to Carol and to GN as well where I have met so many lovely caring people.

If any one else is awake in the night shall we re-invade Soop's kitchen?

Oh dear! I think the week is getting to me.

Gracesmum I am getting a bit worried about my grip on reality with regard to Soop's kitchen as well.

wine to Carol |Greatnan and Gransnet.

grannyactivist Wed 06-Nov-13 22:21:20

Such a sad day for many reasons, but I've popped in here to look for thatbags - she doesn't seem to have been about for a little while, has anyone heard from her?

whenim64 Wed 06-Nov-13 22:20:17

Goodnight, anno moon

annodomini Wed 06-Nov-13 22:19:36

And now, since I am likely to drop off again, I will say goodnight. I hope everyone is able to sleep tonight. moon

annodomini Wed 06-Nov-13 22:18:35

when, I missed Poirot because I kept dropping off. You are right: Carol told me that we would go up on that mountain railway. It was always fun doing things with her that she hadn't done before - like going up in the cable car to the Aiguille du Midi on Mt Blanc, and discovering new places in the Aosta Valley. So many memories from knowing her for so short a time.

Notso Wed 06-Nov-13 21:46:44

Just popping in to raise another glass with the lovely people here. My ankles are freezing, so I've brought a hot water bottle.

bikergran Wed 06-Nov-13 21:38:42

just thought I would pop in before bed for a quick sip then I shall be on my way..take care everyone and goodnight moon

glassortwo Wed 06-Nov-13 21:21:55

icyalittle we have seen your name over the last few days, but it will be good to get to know you. smile

whenim64 Wed 06-Nov-13 21:13:38

Icyalittle it feels like we're getting to know you now - do stick around smile

Ariadne Wed 06-Nov-13 20:54:43

This is the right place to be right now.

Icyalittle Wed 06-Nov-13 20:44:55

Please may I come and sit quietly too? I'm only new here, and only read a few of Carol's posts, but I certainly got a crash course in the lovely lady this last ten days. I brought some local wine Apremont to drink to her with.

whenim64 Wed 06-Nov-13 20:35:32

Yep, that's definitely the one we went up. What a coincidence! Carol would have been motivated to travel back there and get on that train if she'd been watching this. 'I'll just try it out and put it on the itinerary for when Anno visits!' she would be thinking.

positivepam Wed 06-Nov-13 20:33:20

Please can I come and squeeze in as well, to feel united with all of you at this time is really comforting and it is so cosy here. I also raise a glass to Carol, her family and to all you wonderful people on Gransnet. wine

Agus Wed 06-Nov-13 20:32:48

Oh help Soup. £5,000, in the bin!! Thank goodness you found it.

I've been in that doo dah area a few times and I can tell you, it's not somewhere you would want to visit too oftengrin

whenim64 Wed 06-Nov-13 20:27:22

Before I lose the plot, is anyone watching Poirot, who has just travelled up a mountain by train? I quickly Googled it and am wondering if this is the train/funicular that goes from Montreux, where Carol and I drove one day (and I learnt just how skilful she was at navigating hairpin bends). It looked rather familiar, and Google seems to be confirming this was the same place where this programme is filmed.
