I love opening the door on an early Autumn evening and smelling the leaves and the air. If I didnt have a calendar I think I could guess the date Autumn starts.
On the other hand my exhusband hates the cold weather and I think he suffers from SAD. There is definitely a severe dip in his mood when he has to put the heating on and stop wearing his shorts. Now he is single he books at least 2 holidays in hot places during our Autumn and Winter months.
My partner is from the far east and for some weird reason cant tolerate hot weather any more, he absolutely loves snow, wind, icy cold days and dressing up in his huge padded coat and furry trappers hat.
I also like the Spring, seeing everything burst into life ( sounds like one of the infant songs Ive played and sung a million times) so I must be somewhere in between the 2 extremes.
Im extra aware of the changing of the seasons due I suspect to being rigidly bound to term time working all my life. Everything at infant schools is cyclical and I knew that when Autumn arrived we were "doing" harvest, when Spring arrived we were "doing" eggs, tadpoles, bulbs etc. In my head Im still doing all that I suppose. I have a song for every start, middle, end of each season!
Walking through the park kicking leaves last week with my 59 year old partner I just have to sing the Autumn leaves song!
