Because this morning on my way into work I was involved in a car incident, when a young woman sped out of a side road without looking and my taxi had to take avoiding action. We ended up in the hedge and she blithely carried on her uncaring way!
We caught up with her in the golf car park where my driver remonstrated with her, stating that he had an ELDERLY passenger who had been shaken by her carelessness!
ELDERLY! It put me in a bad mood all day!

Galen I bought a lovely cosy pair of thermal tights but I can't wear them because it hurts my bad finger and bruised hand to try to put them on. I am OK (with care) with knee-length socks so will wear an angora pair from sockshop on line ( had also bought over-knee socks as a compromise but have not even taken them out of the packet. The circumference of the thigh bit looks as though it is made for a fragile Chinese girl, not me.)

Galen he was probably just doing his best to make the woman feel suitably guilty. You really are not having much luck lately. I hope you were not too shaken.

Galen Mon 25-Nov-13 22:09:40

Me? No! Just very indignant at being described as 'elderly' , as I've let him know!!!!!!!!!

NfkDumpling Mon 25-Nov-13 22:15:28

Oh dear, poor man. When he was only trying to make her feel bad. At least he did say you were hysterical or fainting with shock!

Galen Mon 25-Nov-13 22:18:28

He wouldn't dare! I'd have beaten him up? Elderly! Humph !!!!

NfkDumpling Mon 25-Nov-13 22:19:02

Oh, and sorry, meant to add that I'm glad you weren't hurt, bones get brittle when you're getting on a bit I understand!

LizG Mon 25-Nov-13 22:25:07

I panicked when I read the heading but was most relieved to read further. YOU elderly? no way!!!!! Thank goodness you weren't hurt though. HE was obviously shocked and used you as his excuse to give chase.

Is the taxi driver youngerly?

Galen Mon 25-Nov-13 22:32:42

He's one year younger than me!

hummingbird Mon 25-Nov-13 22:33:18

Never mind the shock, bruises, aches and pains etc - ELDERLY! No wonder you're upset! Hugs, and sympathy, Galen!

Galen Mon 25-Nov-13 22:37:54

I'm not hurt. I knocked my right knee slightly but it's fine!

Aka Mon 25-Nov-13 22:39:19

Words fail me Galen this has shocked me to the core

hummingbird Mon 25-Nov-13 22:39:27

Very glad to hear it! smile

My son used me as an excuse to ask parking attendants at a NT property if he could get parked closer to the house. They said yes! So embarrassing. I could have throttled him!

Galen Mon 25-Nov-13 22:55:59

Quite!
I'm to bed now to nurse my wounded dignity.
Sleep well all! moon

Bet that stung Galen. My GP was dictating a letter to my consultant in front of me so that I could correct him if needed (his words) He started by saying 'Hi Jim, I have this 64 year old woman who.......'
I looked around for the 64 year old woman and guess what? Yep it was me.

Horrifying Galen to be described as elderly, what was he thinking of? But, so pleased you were physcally unscathed even though mentally scarred.

Yes, wear many layers of woollies together with your furry boots, it's blooming perishing up here (and that's not even Edinburgh!!)

kittylester Tue 26-Nov-13 07:17:41

He could have said elderly and pregnant for more impact. grin

Hope you are ok thus morning Galen brew

Lona Tue 26-Nov-13 07:22:09

I would have described you as a 'Grande Dame' wink
Hope you don't get any more aches and pains as a result flowers

The cheek of the man! However I'm sure he was only saying it for the effect it would have had on the other driver.

Hope your bruised pride is a little better this morning.

That's a double whammy Galen - being involved in an accident although thankfully you weren't hurt and being called elderly. Mind you it comes in handy occasionally I would venture to suggest.

This last week I've been using a stick as I've had an accident with a vacuum cleaner and damaged a nerve in my leg and as a consequence I've become INVISIBLE!!! I've discovered how uneven pavements are - some with slopes, and that people don't see you and sometimes come right up and expect you to move first! In addition there was one young man who walked along side me and said I was coping quite well with a stick. I told him I'd whack him with it if he didn't go away. When I crossed the road he appeared again and admitted his rudeness. I agreed he was a rude young man and he apologised and kept hovering until I told him to buzz off. Is that a pick up, would you say? The funny thing was that I recognised him from somewhere but can't for the life of me think where.

Was he your grandson? You know how forgetful us ELDERLY tottery old things aire!

Mishap Tue 26-Nov-13 12:21:09

He was just laying it on thick to make the lass feel bad! I am sure that he did not really think you were elderly!

Galen Tue 26-Nov-13 12:26:37

I'm fine this morning thanks. Just still irritated at being elderly!

Charleygirl Tue 26-Nov-13 12:31:35

Galen you were so lucky that you did not have whiplash injuries this morning. At least it is only your pride that has taken a severe beating. The word "elderly" should be removed from the dictionary.
