Good morning from cheshire. I have been up since 6:15 trying to master 4 needle circular knitting on a leg warmer for a toddler!
Why not just knitting straight and sewing it up I dont know?
Sometimes I just like to prove to myself I can do things!

Penstemmon Thu 12-Dec-13 07:42:51

Morning from Surrey. Chilly and grey but no frost today. Have my last full working day today before Christmas there will be odd bits to do but mostly I will have time for some festive activities now! tchgrin

sherish Thu 12-Dec-13 07:44:44

Good morning all. It's been slightly frosty overnight in Manchester. It makes a change from, rain.

Nelliemoser, I would knit it flat and sew it up. I have done this in the past with bobble hats that were on four needles. I know what you mean about proving to yourself. I did the same with crocheting.

nellie if I could knit an even row I would be pleased. Sounds uber complicated to me. And so early in the day, how clever. tchenvy

Good for you Nellie hope you have great success with your challenge. Happy Thursday everyone, my daughter is off to Weston Hospital for the results of her MRI scan today. She is desperate to be able to walk, get back to work and drive her car, poor dear!

Nelliemoser Thu 12-Dec-13 07:56:08

I was awake and couldn't sleep best to do somethng constructive. sherish I think I agree. The big problem is it is such a small project to get around. Too small for circular needles.

Morning all! Grey in North Leicestershire.

I'm feeling more human today so a little gentle present wrapping today, I think! I've de used it's best not to visit mum this week!

Enjoy your days, everyone. sunshine

I knit socks Nellie I love the results but never feel comfortable knitting in the round and if I make a mistake it's hell unravelling it.

Love the idea of legwarmers for your dgs. Good luck.

It's a pleasant morning here in Cheshire might catch up with some gardening.

NfkDumpling Thu 12-Dec-13 08:28:02

Good morning All. It was so crispy and white here I thought we'd had a powdering of snow. But it's only frost. And freezing fog.

Brendawymms Thu 12-Dec-13 08:33:57

Good morning from East Sussex. Misty, cold, damp but the sky is blue. Lots to do today. Looking after DGD while her mum goes to school to watch nativity play by elder grandchildren.
Realised with much distress that the crochet blanket from hell that I am doing is going wrong. One side I can put right but the other side may have to cut down if that's possible otherwise have to undo months of work.tchsad

Mornin' all. Getting up with a stinking cold, the kind I haven't had for years, it's been coming on since the w/e. It isn't on my chest just now thank goodness.
Have to dress and let in gardener who is going to go on with fixing the peeled patches on the house wall....I hope.
I am determined to get to my family history meeting this afternoon
Back later!

PRINTMISS Thu 12-Dec-13 08:47:10

A quick good morning to you all, slept late this morning, terrible night then got up at 6 a.m. for the usual, back to bed, and instantly fell asleep for a couple of hours! Glad all are feeling a little better, it is cold and damp and frosty and horrible here, off to play bowls again. Enjoy your days.

Dull and misty in London but thankfully not the thick fog that we had yesterday. Some roads were fairly clear, others I drove down from memory the fog was so thick.

annodomini Thu 12-Dec-13 09:42:03

Raining now in this corner of Cheshire. I'm coughing a bit which gives me a headache and sore throat. We had to learn 4-needle knitting at school. The most fiddly bits were the fingers on gloves. When my granny came to stay, she helped me with my homework - a pair of socks, one of my more successful assignments.grin

Lona Thu 12-Dec-13 09:49:43

Yes, it's damp and dreary here too anno.
Another bad night of half dreams and worry, now feeling worn out again before I've even started.
No doubt I'll perk up after a shower and hairwash smile

Re my previous knitting post. I now have a tiny sample piece of four needle knitting to show my knitting group mentor I can do it.

I will now do the toddler legwarmers flat and seam them so he can get them before summer.

I'm watching great great tits bluetits and the dunnock fighting each other off the feeders. The great tits seem to be winning. Oh! A coaltit has just joined the fray. Haven't seen the long tailed tits yet this year.

KatyK Thu 12-Dec-13 10:34:30

Bit dark in Brum - at least it's dry though. I will be spending the day doing my DD's washing and ironing as she has broken her foot tchsad. Took her to have her foot and leg re-plastered yesterday, made her lunch and made them a casserole for their tea. I feel like a mum again! tchgrin

AlieOxon Thu 12-Dec-13 10:37:35

I am not feeling better. Sitting here with warm coat on.
I don't think my gardener/handyman is coming, it isn't his usual day and he's a bit erratic...but I don't mind not having to go outside....

Nonu Thu 12-Dec-13 10:44:19

Good morning all, weather bright & crisp here.
Mr N and I are going to the Japanese Fusion restaurant for lunch, just the two of us.
so that will be a nice little treat !
tchsmile

AlieOxon Thu 12-Dec-13 10:48:23

anno, you can knit socks?
I do know how to do the four-needle stuff, but sock heels defeated me!

Nelliemoser Thu 12-Dec-13 11:19:21

Galen there is a very fierce Robin in my garden that I have seen chasing all the tits off. Viscous creatures Robins.

I do enjoy my bird feeder though, I bought it two years ago as a Christmas present for me.

annodomini Thu 12-Dec-13 11:21:34

Alie, I could do the heels when I was 12, but conveniently forgot thereafter!
