Good Morning Everyone,
Its a wet start here in Brackley this morning,
Mick

Mamie Mon 30-Dec-13 07:22:17

Wet and windy in Royal Tunbridge Wells.

LizG Mon 30-Dec-13 07:26:29

Good morning all. Haven't dared to look out of the window yet but if it has been as windy and wet in Somerset as predicted then I must have slept through it smile

'Morning everyone. It's not raining at the moment here, but everywhere is wet and it's blowing a gale. Lovely weekend though. We went to Titchwell yesterday to see what birds were about and it was brilliant sunshine and freezing cold and hordes of people. I think a lot had come to see how much damage had been done by the Great Storm Surge. The new sea banks the RSPB had put in worked - just - but the dunes are nearly gone. Another blow from the north and the sea will claim the rest.

Good morning.
The garden is suffused with a pink misty glow. Very pretty. Otherwise, v. damp and cold.

annodomini Mon 30-Dec-13 07:46:28

Still dark! Cold and damp. Don't want to get up but invasion fro Scotland today.

Kiora Mon 30-Dec-13 07:49:35

Morning all. It's wet and windy here in kent. It looks set to get worse. A miserable Monday me thinks.

Sewsilver Mon 30-Dec-13 07:50:04

Dark, cold and damp, I share weather with you Anno. Just found out train my sister booked weeks ago is cancelled. Grrrr

Brendawymms Mon 30-Dec-13 08:22:46

Good morning from East Sussex. Windy and wet here today. The ground getting even more saturated.
Doing nothing but coughing, wheezing and sneezing today. grin

baubles Mon 30-Dec-13 08:24:33

Good morning all. Horribly wet here, it seems to have rained day and night for weeks.

annodomini Mon 30-Dec-13 08:35:06

Still extremely dark, but I can see the trees tossing and the rain on the window pane. My sister and BiL are driving down from the Lake District today. I wouldn't want to be on the M6 on a day like this - especially over Shap.

annodomini Mon 30-Dec-13 09:21:03

It doesn't look any better in daylight. And the trees are going crazy now.

AlieOxon Mon 30-Dec-13 09:34:27

Yuk what a dismal day. Passage roof leaking all over.
I have a washing machine being delivered (whee) at lunchtime....and no sign of my handyman who is supposed to connect it, he's gone out of contact (booo....eh?) but there may be many reasons for that.
However, I want some clean sheets!

Up to our eyes in running water - OH been awake half the night checking our storm drain. There is massive waterfall running down the road and hill behind our house and a veritable flood pouring into the massive watertrap at the back of our house and gurgling under the house through the the storm drain. It releases into the lane in front and there is a brown turbulent river pouring down the lane.

We need to get the farmer on the property above us to deal with his drainage so that the road above us does not flood and cause all these problems.

My main worry is that OH has not taken his meds and is too involved trying to unblock the drains in the lane above our house. He will flag very soon as he has no strength. Luckily we have a brilliant neighbour who is helping us and there are plenty of able-bodied young farmers who could help if things get worse.

Fingers crossed! In theory the storm drain should cope, but it is a bit scary.

KatyK Mon 30-Dec-13 09:44:48

Brum is being battered.

LizG Mon 30-Dec-13 09:56:02

That must be worrying for you Mishap Sadly all I can do is send best wishes and drying up thoughts but maybe they will help.

Galen Mon 30-Dec-13 10:27:51

The gutter outside my bedroom window appears to be blocked. Gary has gone to see if he can reach it from the bedroom. I really don't know what I'd do without him.

Charleygirl Mon 30-Dec-13 10:52:50

The lights are on here as it is so dark. It has been raining since my cat rudely wakened me before 9am today. I must venture out but do not fancy it. At least it is not cold.

Aka Mon 30-Dec-13 10:53:51

Hope it gets sorted Mishap.
Oh dear KatyK ..we're due to fly out of Brum today!!

Agus Mon 30-Dec-13 11:01:16

It's only raining here Aka so once you get to our bit! it should be plane sailing grin. Enjoy your trip.

Mishap Mon 30-Dec-13 11:15:10

Rain has now stopped but the water is still rushing down the hill and into the storm drain - it takes ages for it to slow down as it is accumulated water running off the hills which are already saturated. Looks as if we will be OK, but more rain forecast for Weds and it will be falling on sodden ground.

I plan to go to the next Parish Council meeting to see if we can get some engineers in to create bigger and better drainage. That is what is needed.

NfkDumpling Mon 30-Dec-13 11:24:59

The weather seems to be stuck in a bit of a loop. I do hope it doesn't get any worse for you Mishap. Sideways rain here now, but at least it's not too heavy at the moment.

Galen Mon 30-Dec-13 11:29:04

Down pipe which is a soak away appears to be completely solidly blocked!

harrigran Mon 30-Dec-13 11:35:55

Good morning from a grey wet north east. All the family arriving any minute, except DIL who has to go to work. Thankfully the GC were out all day yesterday so won't be suffering from cabin fever.

annodomini Mon 30-Dec-13 12:24:40

Galen, you have most likely got leaves jamming up the pipe. You can get a grid to put over the top of it so that leaves that settle in the guttering can't get down the pipe.
