Interesting conversation at the breakfast table just now. What do you want to be when you grow up? Not a hairdresser any more but an architecter, says the 5 year old. The (highly articulate) 3 year old whose older half brother is studying astrophysics next year, decided he was to be a pirate while his 2 year old brother was to be a weetabix and the 7 year old is going to drive ferries on Sydney Harbour. What aspirations do your gc's have!

These aspirational stories are really funny. A very cheering thread.

I thought about this thread today.

Out with GD aged 7, as previously mentioned, when we said "Oh back to school next week Heather" She said "Well I don't mind school but mummy said she has put money in the bank for university, she said the government take it and I go to university if I am clever enough". I said "Oh, that sounds good". Heather replied "N o I don't think I will bother the b----y government has enough and wastes it".

I nearly choked and my hubby said. "Now you know what I have to put up with, she got's that from you". blush

Crikey, POGS, your GD seems very informed for her age! My seven-year-old GDs have no idea about government policies and/or their own university prospects! confused

POGS Thu 02-Jan-14 23:05:02

Ana

Neither does mine really. She knows I am boring and watch the news and BBC Parliament avidly and knows what Parliament looks like because of it.

The joke was she was parroting me and hubby found an Ali. smile

They are, however, two years ahead of their reading age in the national reading statistics guide. Perhaps I should be giving them something more challenging! grin

Sorry, POGS, my last post was delayed because I had to look up the Tide Tables for DH who is worried our garage will be flooded again - it was meant to follow on from my first post!

They are funny at that age, though, aren't they? GC, not DHs wink

PPS

I have never heard her swear before and she wouldn't know she said something wrong.

blush

My nephew wanted to be a pilot from when he was 2, he is now 33 and an international airline pilot, DS1 wanted to be a popstar, and became one, DS2 wanted to be a writer - he sill hasn't quite got there, but is on the way and DD wanted to be a hairdresser from when she was 18 months, and now runs her own hairdressing business ...however DGD wants to be peppa pig.... smile I guess she could get a job at peppa pig world !!

ana they are the highest tides for 18 and a bit years apparently - but no northerly winds pushing them down the east coast this time.
Someone told me that her daughter aged 4 stood on the stairs with her arms folded and said "when i grow up i am going to be a lawyer and put you in prison mummy". She is now a lawyer. smile

GD aged 4 couldn't wait to tell me something that was a bad thing to say. When I held my breath and asked her to tell me what she was desperate to repeat the reply was, with mischievous eyes, "what the heck"!! To which I had to reply, "oh, dear, that is bad", then she was happy.

She also informed me that when she is a lady, she is going to marry Grampa and have a baby!

I was watching GD1 (aged 4) doing her impersonation of Darcey Bussel one day (very elegant) and I asked her what she'd like to be when she left school, she looked at me down her nose and replied witheringly 'A ballet dancer',
'And what about you?' I asked her younger sister (aged 3, and sadly about as elegant as I am) 'A dinosaur' was the answer.

Grandad and I. Have just been subjected to2 hours of a dancing show staring our 5 year old granddaughter. Dressed in a tutu ballet shoes a tiara and lots and lots of tinsel. We are not sure what this implies about her future but what we do know is whatever she decides to do she will definitely be bossy!
