Good Morning Everyone,
Still dark but looks cold here in Brackley.
Mick

Rained all night in Geneva. Still dark and miserable. Perhaps it will encourage the Syrians to get their act together.

LizG Fri 24-Jan-14 07:14:26

Good morning all. Too dark to know about the weather right now, forecast for the weekend not good sad

We can but hope Stansgran.

Tegan Fri 24-Jan-14 07:18:45

Good grief; what's wrong with me? Up and about at this hour of the morning [I say morning but it could be the middle of the night looking outside]. Is it ever going to stop raining sad?

thatbags Fri 24-Jan-14 07:19:50

I've been seeing stars as in clear(ish) skies each night as I go to bed for several nights and then waking up to overcast, cold, rainy, sleety days. From what I could see when I woke at 6 today is similar. However, there is a new theory of life (how it arose) from a young physicist in the science forum. Check it out. It's very readable as well as cutting edge.

Oh, and good morning all! sunshine (I wish!)

Brendawymms Fri 24-Jan-14 07:23:42

Dry and calm in East Sussex but it's just a lull before the next wave of rain and wind. Crocuses are beginning to come out and some daffodils. Spring is coming.

Gally Fri 24-Jan-14 07:33:59

Early evening in Sydney and ...... It's raining. Temperature down to a 'cool' 21. Amazing how one becomes acclimatised to local conditions after a while - I actually feel quite chilly confused

lefthanded Fri 24-Jan-14 07:56:15

Unusual for me to be up this early. But our son goes back to work today after three months off sick (carpal tunnel operations) so I will be taking our grandson to school. Looking out of the window - I think I am going to need a waterproof coat.

kittylester Fri 24-Jan-14 08:11:24

Poor you Gally grin

Not very light in N. Leicestershire but it isn't raining here - yet. Isn't it strange Tegan, the difference in our weather considering how close we are?

A friend and I are going to a great farm shop for a natter and a cup of tea in the cafe! This afternoon I am taking up the cudgels against a complacent, self serving organisation!

NfkDumpling Fri 24-Jan-14 08:15:00

I feel for you Gally, I really do!

I hope your son's op was successful Left, I gather it takes a while to get over it and back to normal.

Bright and sunny in North Norfolk this morning. DD1 and family are coming for the weekend so I'd like to think it's going to be a lovely weekend - but I suspect not.

absent Fri 24-Jan-14 08:17:07

The sun going down here and I have just finished work for the day. I did find time to nip outside in the very hot sunshine and pick some lemons and courgettes. I anticipate lemon and mustard seed chutney and courgette and apple chutney, plus huge freezer stock of ratatouille next week – if I ever get this current job finished.

NfkDumpling Fri 24-Jan-14 08:19:31

Shut up Absent grin

Kiora Fri 24-Jan-14 08:46:29

I'm fairly new so have no idea where Absent is but I so wish I was there. Instead of here in this constant grey rainy kent. Good morning to all of us. Fun Friday with grandchildren today. Ball park for me again oh my poor poor joints.

annodomini Fri 24-Jan-14 08:49:05

Traces of something white on my garden. Not frost, maybe the remains of last night's sleet and hail. Depressing.

absent Fri 24-Jan-14 08:55:17

Kia ora Kiora. I emigrated to New Zealand last May. It is summer here and I am having lots of fun with the garden, having never had anything bigger than a patio all my adult life. I may have overdone the number of tomato plants. If it's any comfort to you, rain is forecast for Sunday and the temperature will drop to about 21°.

Kiora Fri 24-Jan-14 08:58:58

Absent lucky you missing this horrible weather. Do you miss anything about the U.K though

Sewsilver Fri 24-Jan-14 09:10:52

Absent am envious. Having lived in Australia for three years , long ago, wondering why I came back to this weather. Beautiful pink sky this morning and I saw my first snowdrops yesterday so there are compensations.

Galen Fri 24-Jan-14 09:19:30

Good morning. Wet grey windy here.
I normally have a lazy day on Friday, but today:-
The burglar alarm man is coming
The decorator is coming
My hairdresser is coming
My dress maker is coming (just to shorten two pairs of trousers)
A signed for delivery is coming

Why is it when I'm quite tall I have to have standard length trousers shortened?

rosesarered Fri 24-Jan-14 09:28:03

Probably because you bought the trousers in M&S Galen ? The sizes there are really off the wall, I have to try at least 3 sizes of any garment there these days for something to actually fit! kitty who is/are the self serving and complacent organisation? W.I.? Council? Parish Council?
Grey, rainy and generally depressing here this morning, but not cold at least.Mick is still managing to get the first post on here I see. grin

Galen Fri 24-Jan-14 09:32:33

One pair, yes, the other are Planet!

Bez Fri 24-Jan-14 09:33:43

Good morning - dull, grey and very wet here in Dordogne. From the look of the forecast it is set for the day. Fire burning well and I could do with just staying in but need to go to Bergerac again today to the sewing machine shop - got to take a part with me - don't ask - had a bit of a lost in translation moment yesterday when the lady rang me!

lefthanded Fri 24-Jan-14 09:44:18

Thanks NfkDumpling. He had the op in November. Fortunately he didn't have to wait long for the op as his employers paid for it to be done privately. I think they were a bit afraid that he could argue that it was an industrial injury resulting from repetitive strain (he's a hotel chef). It did mean that he was off sick for the busy Christmas period though, and I don't think they were too happy about that.

lefthanded Fri 24-Jan-14 09:52:24

I envy you in the Dordogne Bez even if it is wet. We had a holiday there in 2008 staying at Camping Moulin du Roch just outside Sarlat.

Oldgreymare Fri 24-Jan-14 10:06:55

Sidling in shame-facedly. Out looking for a new car yesterday and quietly reversed into another as I was leaving. 2 lovely young men were very reassuring saying things like:
It's only metal!
100,000 on the clock , bump-free!
Best place to have a bump (they have a body-workshop on the premises).
All that said I am sooooooo cross with myself!
Miserable day altogether..... men sorting problem with sewage leaking across our driveway (blockage in Neighbour's drains)....
..... and I burnt the dinner!!!!!
Glad to start a new day GOOD morning everyone!

rosesarered Fri 24-Jan-14 10:09:46

Tale of woe old grey! awwww.
