Good Morning Everyone,

Good morning to you from the Thames Valley. More rain due here

I am grateful to live up a hill as 3 of my friends have had to move out of their homes, one of them lives about 500 yards from the river but because their house is slightly lower than those around they are flooded. It is a tragedy. sad

Bez Fri 14-Feb-14 07:36:00

Good morning everyone. Looks as if we may have a nice day today - clear bright start anyway.
I feel so sorry for those people with the flooded homes. It must be a huge problem too finding places for them to stay for the long term till they can go back home. Here's hoping everyone gets some dryer weather soon.

The wind and rain has just started in East Sussex. Another lovely day. On Monday DH and myself are off to the sun for ten days. A Happy Valentines day to all. flowers

Good morning!

Just grey at the moment here but we have been promised yet more rain!

Shopping for me today and then a visit from DD3 and her two this afternoon smile

Nelliemoser Fri 14-Feb-14 08:51:26

Good morning from very grey Cheshire.

DH and I are going out to dinner tonight with a friend I have known for 20 odd years. They are a very earnest intellectual leaning couple somewhat lacking in a sense of humour. Being funny for the sake of it is not their agenda. Add to this my OHs lack of ability at any sort of social chat this could be a very long night. Think of me.

nellie. I prescribe a queasy tummy/bad headache that comes on as soon as the evening gets difficult wink

Another dull start here but at least it's not windy. I had to spend nearly an hour yesterday cleaning my gas coal fire out as it was full of soot, dirt, bits of mortar and small debris from the chimney!
Thank goodness I'd taped a bin liner over the fireplace or my carpet would have been filthy!
Still better than being flooded out!

Good morning from a chilly but dry Moray Firth. Hope everyone is safe in the south of the country, news not great regarding the forthcoming weather. Just wonder when its all going to end. We are very fortunate to live in an area which hasn't been battered with all the rain, but we are thinking about all affected by these terrible floods.

PRINTMISS Fri 14-Feb-14 09:46:53

Good morning everyone, it is wet - YES! we have RAIN on the Sussex coast! Seriously, it is so awful now for all those living knee deep in water with all their treasures at risk, fortunately we are not flooded, but many roads around us have been almost impassable. However, I had a lovely surprise this morning my grandson, who lives in a planet of his own (studying for his masters in something to do with the environment), actually managed to send me an e-mail thanking me for sending him his birthday present in January! This was in the form of theatre vouchers, and he has told me he will use them either to see Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake, or a Hip Hop Dance Show - a bit diverse, I think! It seems a but lighthearted to say enjoy your days everyone, when so many are in such difficult situations, but if you can, enjoy your day.

Oh Nellie I do sympathise! I think you may have to turn to the comforts of alcohol to get through it, only don't make my mistake and out of sheer boredom drink so much that you end up having a party of one under the hard stares of the po faced ones.

Braced for more rain here. As I have guests coming both next week and the week after, I have earmarked today as a get myself organised day, only now that it's here, I can't be bothered!

Charleygirl Fri 14-Feb-14 10:24:25

It is very dark and grey here in NW London. It has been raining for hours.

rosesarered Fri 14-Feb-14 10:33:48

More Thames Valley downpours here too, but we have been lucky with having very little in the shape of the 'gale force winds' experienced by others, so no garden damage. Set to rain most of the day though.

Hammering down here on the South Coast. BUT there appears to a glimmer on the horizon - literally - as there is a suggestion that the storms are beginning to abate - yo ho. Spring is on it's way, seedlings need transplanting - all is right with my world. And I have art class this afternoon

NanKate Fri 14-Feb-14 10:44:00

Oh Nellie you did make me laugh. Having said that I do feel for you too.

I am one for quizzes and if it was me I would take it one along and get their help at working out the answers. If they are 'clever clogs' they will love using their brains and your OH can sit back and sup.

henetha Fri 14-Feb-14 10:50:29

Horrible yet again down here in darkest Devon. Counting my blessings like mad, but..... UGH !

Being lashed by rain and strong winds here in East Devon. There is now some localised flooding in parts of the town, but people had sandbags at the ready so hopefully there won't be too much damage caused. The road outside my house is awash with water where the drains can't run it off fast enough and the river has burst its banks - fortunately no houses are affected by the latter as it runs through a protected meadow.

Galen Fri 14-Feb-14 11:14:37

Guess what?
It's raining!

Brendawymms Fri 14-Feb-14 20:28:10

The wind here now in East Sussex is getting scary!

NanKate Sat 15-Feb-14 15:54:12
