Medical Alert System?

Is the alarm you are looking at for use in your home to give fast alerts to your family if you fall ill at some time or have an accident ? if so one can be arranged via your Social Services Dept or someone from The Supported Housing Team at your local Council will direct you to a firm who has a history of good instalations in your area & have a good reputation.

I provided my mum with an alarm to wear around her neck and tested it on a regular basis. The response was excellent and always by name. The company had my details too and rang me when she'd had a fall and after they'd called the ambulance. I can't remember the name but it wasn't a Canadian device.

Durham has a system called care connect. You have a phone and a button to wear and press if there's a problem. We had it in when my husband was ill. After he died they took it away, as me being on my own is not a problem!

Depends what you want to achieve HannaBrown - if you can clarify I'm sure members can help you. My MIL has a bracelet alarm such as glamma describes - trouble is when she fell over in the bathroom the other night she had taken it off to go to bed! So no blooming use at all when she needed help and was stuck on the bathroom floor until morning. Unless she had had a carer come in first think she would have been there all day.
The myalarmcare site looks like it would be useless unless you lived in Canada because it is a help service that is based in Canada.

My dad had an alarm supplied by Social Services and it was with a company called LIFELINE

He had a button alarm he wore on a neck cord and he had a watch which was very good too. The company were excellent and dad had to call once a month to test it was all working OK and if he ever wanted to test it at any time the staff were very kind and understanding.

They kept my number for emergency contact and we did have about 4 calls from them in emergency circumstances. We were so glad the system was installed!!!!! Once dad was unable to be heard but an ambulance was dispatched at their request, very good service all round.

I can thoroughly recommend this type of service it is so reassuring.
