I think Nigella has fallen foul of what Americans like to describe as "moral turpitude". When I first went to America many years ago, we had to complete a form which asked whether we had been engaged in acts of moral turpitude, not knowing what it meant, I wanted to put "I do hope so!" which of course would have been the wrong answer! I'm sorry for Nigella, it's quite ridiculous.

There is a lot I love about the US but they do have some daft rules. DH and I (both clearly over 21) were refused a bottle of wine with our meal in a restaurant because we didn't have ID!! And don't get me started on their gun laws

Not a fan of the women, but it does seem quite ridiculous. Convictions are one thing but a confession during that daft court case (instigated by her nasty husband who I think rather enjoyed creating the drama) hardly seems a just cause. Hells teef we are of to the US next month .....wondering If I'll get refused for carrying too many aromatherapy oils (they help me cope with long flight and those nasty so-and-sos in Home Land security, who see grey-haired Saga tourists as some sort of security threat.

She will get in, but they'll have her jumping through hoops and subjecting her to rigorous searches each time she visits. Pitiful! She's endured enough.

Humiliating, and quite ridiculous. What a sanctimonious and hypocritical way to behave towards someone who hasn't been convicted of anything and poses no threat to anyone. This is in a country where drug use and gun crime are rife and where doctors who perform abortions are murdered by right wing "christians".

Humiliating for her, and so very childish of Us customs or whoever decided to implement the rule. I am no admirer of drug taking, but she took them, didn't deal them. The US often makes itself look very silly, all this fuss over a middle class middle aged woman who took recreational drugs in her own home and at her own cost, it is not illegal to snort cocaine as far as I am aware. So how does Keith Richard of the Stones get in and out of USA? I abhor drug dealing, but to be honest, intelligent people deciding to use recreational drugs that they have bought and in their own home is not our business as long as children or vulnerable people are not involved.

I don't think Nigella is any threat, or an undesirable. What nonsense!

The US never fail to amaze me with some of their stupid legislation and "rules".
They ban someone who has taken drugs in the past but is not a convicted, or dangerous drug dealer from visiting their country and still have loads of needless killings each year, and some notorious mass shootings. All this as a result of their failure to control guns.

It makes you want to despair.

That seems a bit harsh. What about that Sheen actor chappy, he's well known for drug offences and seems to go in and out without a problem.
