Primary school choices

Agree Tanith and I think your daughter has a car G47 hasn't she?
Two of my grandchildren start school full time in September and the youngest will be travelling over two miles, happily to their school of choice.

The best advice is to actually go and visit the school they have been given she may be pleasantly surprised rather than dismiss what might be a perfectly acceptable school just because it is a good walk away.

How many choices (out of the 6 schools) was your daughter allowed on the actual form and did she fill in all the possible choice?

I ask because normally there is space for 3 choices, but some parents only name one school. In this instance if that school fills all its allowance and there are no other choices named the LA can then simply allocate the next school with unfilled places. Legally.

I'm sorry to hear about your daughter's problems, but to be fair, 1.3 miles isn't that far on foot!

I know my daughters not alone but she is extremely upset. Her London borough have offered her 4 year old twins school places in the next area.- despite the school not being on the list of 6 from which they were given a choice AND there are 14 primary schools nearer to their house than this one!
They have lived in the area for over 5 years?

The school that was their first choice was to have had a bulge year. A couple of weeks ago she received a letter saying this was no longer happening

This is madness. How do parents manage without a car? What about walking your children to school? Not possible over 1.3 miles away.

She has emailed a solicitor specialising in judicial reviews and is contacting the LA on Tuesday. Sending out the letters just before a long bank holiday is thoughtless if not downright cruel!

Any other thoughts / suggestions would be welcome.
