Taking tablets whilst out

We've been shopping again today, (stocking up before retuning to Portugal) Everywhere we went I seemed to be drawn to hip flasks. I think DH is beginning to think I've got a problem.

You are a treasure Dustyangel this is exactly what I am looking for. I also have a House of Fraser about 5 miles from my home so I shall go and investigate.

I have looked online and seen that they do some lovely decorated flasks, one with coloured butterflies which is fab.

I was in the chemist with my 3 year old GS recently and he started chatting to a lady with purple streaked hair and blue nails and I hoped he wouldn't say anything to embarrass her. He shouted 'Nan come over and show your lilac nails.' At least my GS appreciates my love of colour.

NanKate Browsing through the Paperchase section in a House of Frasier store today I saw decorated hip flasks. Same sort of attractive decoration as their notebooks, mugs etc. Some in lilac/ mauveish colours. I think £10. Hope this helps.

I just put water in an empty vodka bottle and then shout 'BOTTOMS UP' as. I take a big swig.

Taking tablets:
I solved this by getting a pack of small bottles of flavoured water - and letting my youngest grandson have the water for his packed lunch....then retrieving the bottles, a very handy small size, to use for water and also for my goat milk.
When I have milk I pack the bottle in a small shoulder bag inside some bubble wrap - a mini cool bag.

I have mine in a plastic bottle and swill them down with whatever is handy - usually a bottle of water. As for the flask idea, go for it. Don't worry what other people think re the vodka idea - so what, you're never going to see most of the again anyway.

I seem to have opened up a can of worms here, or perhaps a variety of ideas sounds better.

It makes me realise that we are all different and have different needs and wants.

After all the helpful advice I fancy the whiskey flask filled with pure water.

When it comes down to it all I want is to be able to take a f***** tablet. . I feel one of my headaches coming on !

I suppose carabinas are the modern versions of chatelaines?
I always fancied one of those. More convenient than rooting in a handbag for a small item.

Nankate asked for a nice little flask. She did not say cheap plastic water bottle. That's what some of us have shown her.

Bags I agree, but I thought the main message of that poem was a bit more specific, ie that when you are old it is perfectly ok to be disinhibited.
Which is actually a symptom of dementia

Surely the main message of that poem is that one doesn't give a damn what other people think? With which idea wanting a 'stylish' water bottle and feeling even slightly concerned that people might think one is swigging strong spirits is completely out of place as I see it.

There's nothing wrong with wanting a stylish water bottle, of course, it just seems like an odd thing to be concerned about or to spend se eral pounds on. Chacun à son goût. Shrug emoticon.

And I didn't need to grow old to wear purple - though I do and I also wear turquoise, sky blue, pink and may even venture into lime green if I'm feeling daring...

TBh Nankate I've never understood the appeal of that poem.

Hi Jane have you heard the poem that goes something like when I get old I will wear purple ? Well I am like one of the sad old birds who wears very bright colours and things I never dared do until I got into my 60s.

So what I am coming round to saying is that if I could get a water bottle in a stylish lilac or with flowers on it I would be very pleased. My plastic children's one is purple, but I want something which looks a bit nicer.

Actually nankate I thought it was trendy/stylish to use and ordinary water bottle

I don't get this at all.

The one I have cost a pound, and I bought it because I can't resist anything that has a carbinier (sp?) that clips on to my belt. It's for when I go walking.

Twelve quid for a water bottle! You've got to be joking! Please tell me one's water bottle doesn't need to be "stylish". Like ga, I just use any old thing. So long as it slots into a special end pocket of my bag, it'll do. What it looks like has never, ever crossed my mind. Well, I suppose it has – it looks like a cheap plastic water bottle. Why would I need it to look like anything else?

If I were you, nankate, I'd just get a whisky flask and have done with it. Why does it matter if people think you're swigging vodka? Let them think what they like. [swigemoticon]
