I've just checked to find that the wee refreshment for wee mouse hasn't been nibbled at. I'm convinced that the little creature escaped when we were out of the room. We left the door open almost all day long. Surely it would have sniffed the fresh air and made a dash for freedom. Rory...being who he is...couldn't care less. He's wearing "that look" and we all know what that means.

I thought the same Nonu. Quite apart from what you are dealing with Bella I think most of us would have been round like a shot if our child was ill.

Isn't that just typical of our generation Bellasnan you fret abput letting somebody down when you have all this on your plate. In your friend's place I wouldn't even have asked. I also feel that if my own child had been off colour I would have put my own night out "on hold." I hope I am not being unfair to them but there is a saying" my children, my problem" and a socking big to ypu.

Yes, that was very decent of you Bella and I agree, most folk would be on your doorstep to pick up a poorly child, especially knowing that your DH is home and obviously not well. Fingers crossed that little girl did not have an infection and it was just a tummy upset. You may have an early glass Bella but you lot should really wait

Yes, I must admit I couldn't have left a poorly child either, but they were more concerned with having paid 60euro each for tickets to whatever it was they were going to! To be fair, I did tell them to go and enjoy themselves and not to worry, but I did think they would have picked her up a bit sooner today.
Never mind, I love her to bits - she's such a darling and we have great fun with her trying to teach me Maltese and me teaching her English. Just sorry she was so unwell, it took me back to when ours were little and you are just willing them to get better quickly.

No pattern, had to invent it. It's a flat submarine, could stuff it. But DGD seems happy as it is!
I'm crocheting an afghan to cover a single bed for my 93 year old aunt.
It's in twelve inch squares and I need about 40 odd squares.

Hope all is going well with you Bella and your DH has not succombed (that looks a very funny word!) to anything your visitor may have had.

I'm just having some peace and quiet in the kitchen before DDs 2 and 3 and DGC 3, 4, 5 and 6 (!!!!) arrive to stay for a week. DD2 is coming to show solidarity with DD3 (or so she says!) but, as DH and I have had the house to ourselves since Saturday morning, I expect we'll cope!! I forgot to mention that DD2's husband (my favourite) is arriving on Friday night!

kitty, you will have many adults in the house so I hope some of them can cook, or at least wash up and tidy up!! Don't work too hard (easier said than done!).

Crochet lessons, please Galen. I have tried over the years. However, what I have to do now is practise make a bracelet from loom bands to impress DGD2!

Soop, you always make me feel very lazy with your brass cleaning, ironing, looking after everyone so the little bit of cooking I did today was nothing (although it was very hot in the kitchen I must admit). The zucchini (courgette) slice turned out very well though I say so myself; supposed to make it in a Lamington tin but I didn't have one so made it in a deep quiche dish and another lot in a small roasting pan.

There is some left over so please try it (not if you are vegetarian as it has lean back bacon in it)! Nice for lunch with a salad.

Sorry, Galen, that sounded like an order! However, you do sound very talented and I cannot crochet anything other than a square which ends up as a trapezium.

Galen I've never croched a submarine before, but I have croched a chicken and teddy bears. You must be very inventive to do it without a pattern, I can't make up anything without a pattern.

Galen is crocheting the entire Beatles back album it seems and I am very jealous of that as my future DGC will probably be starting school by the time I finish the current cot blanket project.

Terra, No, it is not something to use when lambing. Hilarious!! I could pop over and ask Kate if you like, she lives not far from here! Not that I have met her yet.

A Lamington tin is an Australian baking tin, it is a bit like a Swiss roll tin but deeper. Lamingtons are a traditional Australian cake, sponge covered in chocolate then coconut. (Lovely apart from the coconut!) The zucchini (courgette) slice was an Aussie recipe, hence the 'Lamington tin'.
