Are you firmly attached to your handbag?

Me too. So attached am I to my bag that I feel very odd if I have to walk any distance without it. I think it's my comfort blanket!

My handbag is my security blanket and goes everywhere with me, even if it remains in the car boot when out visiting. It is a large black leather Healthy Back Bag which contains my whole life! There isn't room on here to list the contents. I once left it in a shop by mistake and it was handed in to the Police. The long list of contents they had made was so embarrassing! It ended with 'assorted nuts and bolts'

Yep! Me too. It's a shoulder bag and it carries everything I might need .

No, love my bags but am really happy to go for a walk with a couple of cards and some money in the pocket of my jeans.

Oh, and my phone in the other pocket.

I often wonder how men manage, not being able to have hand/shoulder bags [although they can carry them if they look as if they contain a pooter of some kind]. I do have a tiny tiny shoulder bag for when I walk the dog; just big enough for keys, phone and tissues but, in general, my bag is huge and quite full. I'm not someone that has lots of bags as it takes too long to transfer things from one to another, although I have switched to a slightly smaller one recently as my old faithfull is so big things tended to disappear in it for days at a time . Gosh; contents; purse, medical stuff [paracetamol, imodioum, rennies, plasters, zovirax etc]; small sewing kit; glasses; biro; phone; small raincoat [the use once and throw away sort]; tissues; camera [sometimes]; comb; sugar sachets liberated from when I have a coffee out [I sometimes like sugar in coffee]. Handwipes are a recent addition [found them very useful on my holiday and easier to use than gel]. Sometimes a book in case I have to wait in the car for a while.

But Nonnie what about tissues, umbrella, pen + spare, notebook, carrier bag, keys, diary, book, wipes ( not the same as tissues) ...........

I'm so fond of my handbag that it even goes to bed with me at night.

I'm happy to just take keys and phone, if shopping my purse I don't need much else.

Very rarely use one.

Yes I am and it contains - tissues, wipes, hand gel, nail file, pens, small filofax, large purse, hankies, paracetamol, immodium, indigestion tabs, lipstick, comb, small bottle of perfume, moisturiser, fold up shopping bag x 2, various receipts, phone and my keys.

I don't take it to bed - it lives by the grandfather clock in the hall. I used to take it to bed until a friend woke up one night and found a man going through her bag looking for the car keys . She left it downstairs after that!

Travelling far afield, yes. Usually a rucksack of some kind. Everyday, definitely no.

I have a recurring dream in which I lose my handbag. I sometimes wake up in a hot sweat in sheer panic. In these dreams I put it down somewhere and then when I go to leave wherever, I can't find it. I am in a terrible state, asking everyone I can find, searching under chairs and in cupboards. So yes, I think I am quite attached to mine. And yes, I take it to bed, well not inside the bed obviously but upstairs with me each night.

Totally adhered to it! I change my bag to suit the activity and how much I have to carry. Some bags have specific roles; small ones to pack for holiday, large ones to carry everything when travelling etc.
When I go to bed, the current days bag lives on the bed post!

NO. Most of the time it's just a nuisance. I have several, rarely used. I usually have all I require in my pockets.

The Queen seems to be like those of us who "handbag-ites". She is seldom seen without one!

same as hildajenniJ- I try to avoid one if I can. If I have to have one, I have a small leather rucksack- and when I really do have to be more formal, I have a beautiful soft Gucci bag given to me by a daughter.

My whole life is in my handbag: phone, purse with multitude of cards (credit, debit, loyalty, discount, library, memberships...) diary, inhaler, Gaviscon tablets, paracetamol, bus pass, railcard, driving licence, insurance cert, tissues, comb, lipstick(s), pens, pencils, wipes, perfume atomiser. And I take it upstairs at night. I must have missed something.

Went for a big wild walk today + lunch for a friend's BD. Lipsalve in one pocket, 100CHF note in the other with the paracetamol, just in case my knees got too bad as we had to walk back up the hill (didn't use them)- basta!

I can only use a small shoulder bag. I hate carrying a clutch or a handbag, so fiddly.

It consists of my purse, a mobile, tablets and a hairbrush.

My sister is joined at the hip by her 'dustbin' sized bag, complete with 3 year old sweets, shop receipts that she will never want, brushes, tissues, hair lacquer (she admits she never uses), enough fluff to knit a jumper with etc. etc.

She is always complaining how heavy it is, I just wish she would carry something useful in it like airport bottles filled with Bicardi and a can of Coke.

anno Although I can't stand handbags, I'll happily walk by your side with you and yours..........obviously ready for any eventuality.

Tegan You wonder how men manage without a bag......it's the 'can you just pop my wallet/my camera/the insect repellent/the sunscreen/my fleece into your handbag' question!
I go round in ever-decreasing circles with this one. I have to take a large bag, so that I can accommodate these 'extras'. MrA perceives that I have a large bag, and thinks he can ask me to put even more stuff in it.

This is despite my having bought him a very stylish man-bag some time ago.
