Do you "go out" during winter/cold days ... or do you stay in.

Same here. I had planned to go to water aerobics this morning but it was too cold. I've just cleaned out the cabinet containing all our files and shredded lots of old papers.

I think I must get 'cabin fever', as a couple of days without a walk has me bad tempered and anxious. I try to make a point of walking most days unless its really wet out, the colder the better and snow has me pulling on my non slip boots and coat, hat, gloves and scarf and having a good walk.

OH on the other hand would cheerfully stay in for the whole of the Winter relying on me to shop etc etc...

Unfortunately I don't have the choice Grannyknot as have work and lots of family commitments that force me outside.

The thought of "holing (is there such a word?) up for days" is very appealing though. Just keeping warm, eating cake, watching an old film.......Zzzzzzzzzzzz

I only go out when I have to go somewhere, see someone, do something...

Time was when I would go out just for the sake of it, but not now; there has to be a reason!

I went out in the pouring rain in waterproof trousers and a double Ventile jacket, which is allowed to get dirty, and walked to and fro between two wood piles 93 times (an average of fifteen steps each way, I reckon) carrying and stacking split wood from one pile to another, where they will stay, covered by a tarpaulin when I have got a new one, until the wood is fit to burn in our stove.

Then I came in, divested myself of waterproofs and boots, drank a cup of sweet tea (I don't usually have sugar in tea) and lay down on my bed for a rest. I woke up an hour and three-quarters later.

I'm the same as tanith I can't stay in for more than two or three days at the most.
I don't mind going out in the cold or fresh snow (not slush or ice) but avoid the rain.

I couldn't stay in for more than a couple of days either. I don't mind the rain, as long as it's not combined with a howling gale!

I only go out when I have to. (Unless I'm cruising)

I can't even stay in for one day without going stir crazy. I just love being outdoors whatever the weather, and don't feel the cold, in fact one of my favourite jobs is snow clearing! In bad weather I can be out all day, clearing car park and paths and helping to push cars out of this side road, which is uphill onto another incline. I do get slightly annoyed when young neighbours watch me through their windows, then drive off without a 'thank you' when I have prepared the way!

I love going out because then I can appreciate being in.

Even though I feel the cold, I love to be out in it. I was out doing my morning walk as usual this morning. I love the feel of the cold on my face when I am all bundled up warmly in fleecy jacket, hat and gloves.

Like OPs I get stir crazy if I have to have a day or two when I cannot get out.

I feel like a prisoner if I don't get out EVERY day.

One or two of my friends have illnesses that dissuade them from getting out and I just thank my lucky stars that I am still fit enough to don my hat, mac, gloves and wellies and face the world.

Galen will you please define YOUR meaning of cruising as it conjures up some dodgy thoughts.

I seem to go out less and less now. I used to go out every day. Like Merlot I needed to go out to appreciate coming in again. Sometimes,at this time of the year, I would be in the garden all afternoon, sweeping leaves and moving stuff. Can't make myself do it any more.

I need to snap out of it. I wish I didn't get so tired. I have become lazy.

Mind you, today I have been boiling Xmas puds so had to stay in to watch the water levels.

I absolutely have to go out regardless of weather. But I must admit I then look forward to coming home, especially on days like today... - wet and windy and definitely cold!
Too many days in just drive me completely bonkers.

Another one here who can't stay indoors more than a few hours, in any weather. Get warm clothes and boots on, and out I go.
Autumn has always been my favourite season, and I like winter too. Not so keen on rain.

I like being "in". Very happy to stay in for 4 or 5 days in winter time. Cant stand it any longer than that though.

Summertime is completely different.

I think I've lived in the same place too long. It's got boring out there. Can't move now though. Just had new carpets put down.

I don't mind the odd day holed-up indoors because of bad weather - it can feel quite cosy.

But most days I like to be out and about - I might miss something!

Rain and snow keep us in because my wife uses an electric mobility scooter, and we don't like to use it in conditions where it could get wet. But if it's cold and dry, we're out somewhere. Nothing like a brisk walk along the seafront on a cold sunny day.

Try to go out everyday- in all weathers. But I've twisted my bad knee and have cold a rotten cold- so stayed in today and yesterday- will be going mad if I can't go out soon - doh.

Hope you feel better soon, granjura. I don't mind staying in if I'm poorly. No point in making things worse by struggling to go out. Just so long as everyone realises I'm ailing

I sometimes enjoy a day in when the weather is bad, it does feel cosy and you can catch up with strange things like clearing wardrobes and cupboards. That's what I did today, we stayed in , plus reading, playing on the Internet and cooking a large beef casserole for our meal. However, I want to go out somewhere tomorrow, as one day in is enough at a time.However, although I sometimes need to go out, I prefer to stay in on cold dark evenings, and wish I didn't need to go to any meetings etc.
