Wash the cylinder out and change the filters. Chuck a lot of carpet cleaner powder on the flour.

Thanks for responding jo1book. I've sent for new filters. Will I still need to throw a lot of carpet cleaner powder on the floor because I dont have a dog.

I'm guessing jo1book suggested that is because when the powder is sucked through the Dyson system it will deodorise the pipes etc.

Sounds a good idea to me.

Put a few drops of lavender oil on the filters. Or you can buy vacuum cleaner deodorisers in Wilco which are little discs you drop in the cylinder, they do have a nice smell. After you have changed the filters. I'd give the brushes a blast with the steam cleaner as well, or a good scrub. I don't know if you can take the brushes off the dyson, but you probably can dismantle it fairly easily.

It's interesting about odours. When we moved to this home, every night we could smell cigarettes in the living room and we do not smoke. It transpired that smoke had seeped into the wallpaper (the fabric sort of wallpaper) and was releasing the smell when the room was warm.

Talking of smells, my DH used to bring me a cooked breakfast in bed every Sunday morning, now on Sundays, before I get up, I can smell bacon, probably all in my mind but I do like to think he is still around trying to bring me breakfast in bed!

jo1book the odour can still seep into the plaster on walls as we found out when we moved house once,it took ages to get the room smelling fresh again.
