Senior Moment Alert!!

Ashtree I've just made a fish pie .....with a variation on the recipe because when straining the milk used to cook the fish I omitted to catch the liquid in a jug.....it went straight down the sink. And that was seconds after carefully reading the recipe

That was after peeling the potatoes and putting the peel in the pan of boiling water......clearly I need locking up!

Jomarie I'm so glad I was able to lift your spirits. I must admit that after nearly 30 years this story can still make me laugh out loud. The look on her face! And she was as convulsed with laughter as the rest of us. It really was hilarious .

I confess the air was blue after a pint of carefully cooked cream and milk sauce-base disappeared down the plug hole........and I was left with the peppercorns and bay leaves

Od thing was I didn't actually stop pouring immediately, just like your mother Ashtree, sheer disbelief I reckon!

Luckily I didn't chuck the peeled potatoes in the compost bin!

I might have confessed this before, but there was an occasion when I set out to make cous cous and only discovered, when I tried to eat it, that I had used oatmeal.

I put my glasses on the other day, to look for my glasses.

Many, many years ago when my mother was alive and the car driver, we parked in a large multi storey car park and on return had no idea what floor we had parked on. We had been chatting so much we did not notice.

We went to the top and slowly made our way down, going round and round each floor until we eventually found our car. I have always been so careful since then.

A couple of weeks ago I was sneaking clearing out some long hoarded books to take to a charity shop. On my way I bought two packs of fruit juice and some onions. Off to charity shop, I pulled the books out of the holdall, (as I wanted that back} and stuffed the books into several carrier bags from the car and took them in.

Two days later OH asked if we had any juice. "Oh yes! I bought some the other day! A look all round the car, the kitchen, the garage, and anywhere else I might have left them, then I twigged.

I do wonder what the shop thought about two packs of juice and some onions hiding under the books in the carrier bag.

Yes! It does serve me right for being underhand.

I spent quite a while looking for my glasses then DH said 'what's that on your nose?'

I bought the DC some socks along with the weekly supermarket shop - this was years ago and I wasn't a senior then (just a numpty)!

I couldn't find them for quite a while, then I took some bread out of the freezer (still in the Sainsbury's bag). There were the socks, nicely frozen.

I remember finding a frozen tube of toothpaste and a box of teabags in the freezer when DD 'helped' with putting away the shopping. Not to mention constantly wondering what I was thawing when we had a big chest freezer (come to think of it, my chest did freeze delving around in its innards).

I often had to hastily revise lunch because some amorphous block wasn't what I thought it was!

OK, picture this: I'm putting deodorant on... I shake the can and spray under left arm... transfer can to other hand, shake then spray under right arm. The other day I found myself shaking my hand before I'd transferred the can of deodorant to it

Went to Argos yesterday. Card machine said pin was wrong, I have nevr forgotten my pin before, tried everything I could, started to think I was losing my marbles. Eventually gave up and went to manual counter, the guy said the card machine I was on often did that, DOH. MY PIN worked fine in his till.

I console myself in the knowledge that I have, all my life, been absent-minded.
