ive not had anyone long enough to comment but this thread will be fun to read.

Anne58 Tue 30-Jun-15 18:29:02

Oh heavens, I definitely couldn't compile a list with any accuracy! blush

Ana Tue 30-Jun-15 18:29:20

ethel, don't you remember what your husband did? grin

etheltbags1 Tue 30-Jun-15 18:40:26

ana my husband was as follows:
schoolboy
apprentice engineer
died just after qualifying.

So I cant do a long list of his achievements but I do know he was very well liked, was a member of several lifesaving organisations. He was the best.

etheltbags1 Tue 30-Jun-15 18:42:20

btw I had a partner in later life but only one word describes him: waster.

Ana Tue 30-Jun-15 18:43:18

You must miss him ethel flowers

Ana Tue 30-Jun-15 18:43:40

(husband, not waster!)

etheltbags1 Tue 30-Jun-15 18:48:34

actually I miss them both, the waster was a looker and a charmer but he liked to share his charm with everyone he met. Husband was caring and thoughtful but after 20 years time does move on. Got lots of photos though and DGD has seen then and asks about her granddad.

Ana Tue 30-Jun-15 19:01:04

That's lovely - my DGDs think that their granddad must be driving a steam train in the sky because steam engines were his passion, although he was an electrical engineer by trade! grin

hildajenniJ Tue 30-Jun-15 19:12:08

Husband as follows:
Schoolboy (posh, private sort of prep school)
Left school at 14 and went into;
Family Business. (grocery store)
Business collapsed when big supermarkets arrived.
Joined Co-operstive stores.
Still there, retires next year and he can't wait!

NanKate Tue 30-Jun-15 19:26:38

This is shaping up well, but I meant each boyfriend/girlfriend etc. not the same person.

Ana Tue 30-Jun-15 19:36:20

You can't always dictate or predict how threads will turn out! grin

Without wanting to derail thread, this got me thinking to the 'quality' of love at different stages of life. It's so intense early on - is that why so often people talk of their early loves as being love of their lives? It was the one thing you had time and energy to focus on (before careers/families/responsibilities came along).

NanKate Tue 30-Jun-15 20:33:08

You are dead right Tinytwo about the initial intensity of young love. I don't know what started me off on this thread, memories of my youth just came flooding back.

Fair point Ana it is up to each person on this thread to interpret it their own way.
