Minibags used to rearrange all the pins in my pincushion. It was a regular activity she chose when I had it out. When she was two. I probably wouldn't have allowed just any toddler to do that but she had very good fine motor control.

Meant to say Soop, what a glorious sunset! When we holidayed down the road from you, we looked forward to the sunsets most evenings, they were marvellous, but that one last night is a particularly fine specimen.

Getting the seeds out of pomegranates is the easiest thing ever,
Cut in half (rounds its equator, not the polar axis), hold one half over a bowl or dish with your fingers underneath the cut side, then bash the curved side with a wooden spoon. Think hard about all the people you truly hate, the Chelsea captain who parked in a disabled spot while he popped into a kebab shop, your SIL, DC/JC, depending on your politics, (this bit is very satisfying) and all the pips just jump out into the dish. Repeat with the other half!

soop yes indeed I am a Sloggis fan and I have a picture in my bedroom of a washing line if knickers of different types with the words Sweetie pickers wear bigger knickers LOL!

We did the pin and pomegranate thing too - much too much bother these days! I hope some where kids are still digging out pomegranate seeds with pins.

Excuse me for butting in. My hudl has had an upgrade, and my gallery has disappeared. I just wanted to find out if I can post photos from what I now had. I think it's going to work, so here is the sunset over the rooftops.

Thank you, I hope so too. I was given a pack of stronger antibiotics today, it's a case of 'kill or cure', I think. I have been taking my medication for my dodgy sinuses for so long that it appears it no longer works (and they have become infected), plus I had a chest infection, so one lot of gunk was going down and meeting the other lot coming up and the two factions were battling it out at the back of my throat - so that caused ulcers... I have had my chest sounded and a thermometer probe and two doctors pondering over my medication together, so I do feel that I have got my money's worth as I was in there for half an hour - I ended up feeling very guilty because of the poor people who were kept waiting outside.

DBH drove me there, he said he would take me to a new café afterwards to try out their GF cake if I promised not to do my 'usual stoical 'Well I've got a bit of a cough''. I had no idea he paid any attention while I was on the phone.

I just showed him those sunsets, he was very jealous, because we only see them if we stand on a stepladder and peer over the fence!

Alea Pomegranate vodka sounds very interesting.
I wonder is its possible to make pomegranate gin. I don't think I could be bothered to piece all the little seeds though. I haven't been able to access the link to see if that's necessary for the vodka.

Janer I think your rules for hospital visitors are excellent. It seems a long time that you've not been well. I hope you start getting better soon and don't need to use them yourself.

soop that really is a magnificent sunset. I didn't realise when we bought this house how much pleasure the views to the west would give me.

When we were small, my mother would give us half a pomeganate each, plus a pin, kept us quiet for hours! I was looking at them on the Asda site wen I put my order in last night, wondering whether to get one or not, didn`t, but might one of these days.

The sunset was certainly one of the most dramatic that I've photographed. I have hundreds of images. Some are golden and misty, some are purple and dusty pink, and some are outrageously showy and flaming crimson.

jollyg there are still a few midges around. Nothing like those that create havoc earlier in the summer.

WilmaKnickersfit I love your name. Do you have a liking for Sloggis? I think that they are the comfiest on the market.
And yes, the Inca programme on BBC4 (not 3) is extraordinarily well presented. I like the presenter - Dr Jago Cooper...he's rather dishy.

Pomegranate juice seems astringent to me but as vodka.....

What is it about hospital beds Alea? It seems to me they're rarely in the best position to ensure access etc. I also think they seem to get crammed in to the wards, I know there is a need but.... I do hope DH is safely home very soon.

When DH visited me (eventually) when my pinned and plated ankle was sort of sorted I'd asked him to bring a left shoe, flat and the left one of the pair by the back door. He turned up with 15 miscellaneous shoes, randomly scooped out of the bottom of the wardrobe; the only left shoe was black patent, 4" heel and sequinned toed....

Bella very best of luck with house sale, do you know where you'll move too? You'll miss your little blond angel staying, she looks such a 'buggy' child, bless her.

West coast is famed for its sunsets especilaly at this time of year.

Did anyone watch the BBC3 programme about the rise and fall of the Inca empire last night? It was fascinating. MacSporran fell asleep within the first ten minutes. As the programme was finishing, he suddenly sat upright and said...Well, that was well worth watching.
