Ha ha, neither, Kate', I'm talking about Whitby! I thought it was odd that they had to have subtitles for North Yorkshire - the accent's not that broad!
Aah! Crossed wires! I really should waken up properly before I read posts! We do have a connection, however, via Dracula. Whitby says Bram Stoker found his inspiration for Dracula there, whilst out village says he found it here! He did stay here for quite some time and was often seen walking along the cliffs. Our cliff top castle - sadly now in ruins - was said to have inspired him along with the myths and legends of the area. One of those is that the souls of those who have died at sea that year come ashore on a particular tide.
Very atmospheric photos, Katek. I hadn't heard of other claims to the Dracula inspiration, so found that interesting. I'm sure I've seen a film that mentioned the story of the souls coming ashore on the tide. What a touching thought.
