How old were you when you had first child?

I had mine when I was 22,24,25, 32 and 38. One of my daughters had hers when she was 25 and 26 but the other two were in their 30s.

29 and 31. DD1 was 41 and DD2 was 39 and 41.

I had my daughter when I was 21 and my son when I was 23.

I had my first child when I was 31. The worst thing about it was the note on the top of my medical notes- "Elderly Primagravida".
This term was used to describe anyone who had their first child after 30-bit disconcerting for me!

Welcome Heirofthedog. I was 22 when I had my first and 25 when I had the second, DS was almost 34 when their first was born.

I have one daughter. I was 20 when I had her.

I had my children when I was 31and almost 33. My DD had her children, the first, 2 days before she was 24, 26, 27 and 29. She says her family is complete now. She had them all before I had even started!

Kittylester - 5 children - you were busy!

I don't think my son and DIL will be having any more. They've said as much and I don't think it has been an easy pregnancy. Though they may change their minds when the little one arrives! I can't wait!

trisher - I think they've upped that now to 35. These days 31 is fairly 'young' to have a first baby. My DIL said she was quite put off to find the same thing in her notes!

I assumed most of us would have had them in our twenties and our children in their mid to late thirties but that's obviusly not necessarily the case (just what the papers would have you believe).

Am cooking a few dishes for the freezer to take round when he's here. ooh - I can't wait!!

I had mine at 28 and 32 and my D was 33 and 37 which is a trend I have noticed lately. Of course it makes GGC a remote possibility!!

I was 22 with my first and 23 with my second - only 14 months later! My DS became a father at the age of 33 and my DD became a mother at 41!

ann, it makes me a little sad to think that I will hardly see my DGC married even, never mind having children, as the eldest is only 8.

I had dd1 at 21, dd2 at 25 and ds at 31. Girls had their children at 36 and 31 and son had his boys at 32 and 34 although dil was was 36 and 38.

I had my son when I was just 18. My daughter followed when I was 23.

It was very hard at the time but it has given me the joy of being a young grandma with three DGC aged 9,7 and 5. It also made my mum a GG at only 38 and my grandma a GGG at 64!

I was 26 and 28. Elder daughter 23, 28, 30. Younger daughter will be 46 if the next pregnancy is successful

I had mine my first daughter at 20, second daughter at 24 and my son at 27, my girls both had children at 18 but my son much later at 36 .

Its meant the joy of seeing all 8 of my grandchildren grow up , the eldest of them are either married or in relationships and my eldest granddaughter just had a baby at 22 making me a GGMother... and there is still time for plenty more GGC to come along before I shuffle off

I was one day short of being 26, then 28 and 29. Just avoided being an Elderly Primagravida! DC were all well into their 30's when they became parents, following the trend.

I think it's more normal now to get set up with home, career, etc before thinking of children. Proablably more sensible, but how are they going to have to energy to look after us oldies when they've still got kids at home?!

I was 25 & 28.
My DS & DiL, 37 & 43. They had put off for years then got pregnant instantly, once they decided. That was lucky, given her age at the time.
I'm planning on living to 120 so I don't miss anything

For my son I was still a teenager, just being 2 days short of my 20 th birthday. My daughter was born when I was 25. My son's first daughter was born when he was 31 and my daughter was 37 before she had her twins.

I was just 19 when I had my first son and 23 when I had my second. I've really enjoyed being a young mum. They're now 44 and 40.
My stepdaughter had her first son at 37 and she's pregnant with twins now at 39.

Because of the gap between my eldest and youngest, I've been a young mum and a very (for those days) old mum. Not sure which was better.

Or even under 30 trisher, I was apparently one of those too at 28!

26 and 29. I was told I was nearly an older mum' with the second! Our chdten were older beginning their families and not an eye was batted.

My dil ,myDd and were all the same age when we had our first child. We were 27. In my daughter's case it was twins. We all have husbands who are eight years older than ourselves as well.
