Have you put away your Summer clothes yet?

I much prefer winter clothes - boots, jumpers, coats. I prefer to be covered up these days although it was lovely to be on a Greek island early this month in the sunshine wearing floaty loose dresses. I never wear them here.

Re long sleeved t-shirts, I just bought a cotton one this morning in Tesco for £6. It's white with a navy stripe. Obviously haven't worn it yet but it looks ok. I've had them from Tesco in previous years and they have washed well.

I like them too, but always seem to manage to shrink them in the tumble dryer! I have a navy with a white stripe and am wondering how long it will live for.

I don't have a tumble dryer, janerowena, but I suspect Tesco t-shirts would not survive that, as you have found out. They last well enough if, like me, you dry them outside or by the fire (old fashioned or what!). I have three striped Sainsbury's ones that must be three or four years old but are now past their best, hence my search for new ones.

As tomorrow is the first day of Autumn I will change my clothes round later today. (And because I am blooming chilly!)

My bed socks have hardly left my night-time feet all through the summer.

jing - as you may have read, I have already put my Summer stuff away and, typically, I have just read that we are due an Indian Summer at the weekend. Doh.

Re the bed socks, yes, me too! Bed socks and my fleecy dressing gown on top of the bed clothes.

You can bet your life it will be a very fleeting Indian summer.

What's the difference between 'bed socks' and the socks I've been wearing that I'm to cold to take off when I fall asleep on the sofa watching telly ; are they 'sofa socks'??

I've succumbed to winter skirts this week but still with a T-shirt, albeit a 3/4 sleeve. I'm still wearing slingback shoes as I'm another person who hates hot feet. I don't own any thick jumpers, only jersey long sleeve tops.
I'm not a cold person. I haven't even contemplated putting the heating on yet.

Swopped clothes around two weeks ago, so could make sure I was prepared for holiday and Yorkshire weather - and we had glorious sunshine

Very glad I did, wore thick tights today as so cold at work yesterday. Temperatures didn't get above 13° in Wiltshire today, and suspect they won't be any better tomorrow.

Heating's on too, albeit with thermostat turned right down, I hate being cold & I hate winter

I am going away for a few days on Saturday and hoping that the Indian Summer will appear then as forecast!

Don't know how many pairs of fluffy socks I've got, but I will never run out. I'm either in bare feet around the house or long socks under jeans if I'm out. I'll have bare feet in ballet flats for ages yet. Tights make an appearance on Christmas day!

Autumn starts when the clocks change

WilaKnickersfit (I just love your name!) you are so lucky not to get cold feet. I got out my furry boot-slippers two weeks ago.

My Mum has always had cold feet and I remember when I was little she had chilblains. She's always got socks on, loves cosy slippers - I bought her some of those slippers that go in the microwave that she uses in the winter (not supposed to walk in them, but she does a little bit!). I think I have my warmth from my Dad's side of the family because he was always too hot as well!

I haven't stopped wearing LAST winters jumpers yet.

I have only needed a cardigan once or twice here in Nova Scotia. We've has a real Indian Summer, and are almost looking forward to cooler days. He trees are just beginning to turn red. Seems like a long time before we get our first snowfall.

I never really wear summer clothes in this country. I do have a drawer full of stuff I wear on holiday when it is actually warm!!! Here I tend to drop/add a layer as the weeks pass. So one layer is up to 2 at present, varying to 3 on some days.

Did someone mention snow? Polo necks out and winter dressing gowns have not been away all year. I've become afraid of winter.

I love clothes! I buy some new ones at the beginning of every season, and take old ones to charity shop!

All the real holiday stuff has gone away - sleeveless tops, white crops and trousers, summery t shirts - but haven't got out the winter stuff yet.
I really love this time of the year, but then I also love that time when I can get the summer clothes out as well. I could never live in any country that didn't have proper seasons. There's something enjoyable about each of our seasons.
