Do you have any secrets from your other half?

If my ex ever commented another new outfit I gave the usual response this old thing .... I've had for ages.

But on a serious note, why do you have to do all that? I would resent having to keep up the pretence.

DH knows better than to question, not that I have any secrets I can think of.

I do the same Bellanonna but that's not keeping it secret is it? again more because he's got no idea about the price of anything.

He does say that as I earn my money then it's up to me what I spend it on and I do pay for virtually everything anyway!

I peel prices off stuff from the garden centre and get rid of till receipts from supermarkets. DH tends to live in the past pricewise

Oh that's nothing! (OP) I have much more exciting secrets that I keep from DH. Mostly monetary. Not my fault if he can't understand online banking.

I do lots of that sort of thing, you are not alone. DBH is a food snob, so I often buy cheap stuff and pop it in bags from somewhere else, he never notices. If I should die suddenly, he is going to wonder how on earth I ever managed to feed us as cheaply as I do. I used to do the soya mince things decades ago, it was so much cheaper. Now we rarely eat mince, but I buy very cheap coffee, make my own washing liquid but put it in old containers after he said mine wasn't as good, decant cheap biscuits into jars so that he won't notice, all that sort of thing. My very best one I think was when I cut out the Tesco labels in his new white shirts and sewed in some M&S ones I had saved for the purpose.

Or bags of toffee!

And I have this vision of a hoard of Tesco carrier bags under the bed...

Crikey! I thought this thread was going to be about a secret lover or hidden bank account not....mince!!

I would have said not but I remember now that, a few months ago, he discovered my hoard of bags in a cupboard under the spare bed.

Not generally, no, although I will go to some lengths to try to keep some things as a surprise!

I think that what you describe may fall into the category of doing the "wrong" thing (i.e not being up-front about your mince substitute) for the "right" reason, therefore no blame, no guilt, job's a good 'un, as they say!

This seems to me a very minor transgression! - do not beat yourself up.

In the main I do not have any secrets from my OH, although I must admit to referring to a new outfit as "What - this old thing?" on one occasion.
