Songs which make you cry

When we lived in Hongkong I had an LP 'A Festival of English Music' - the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, conducted by Neville Marriner.
Vaughan Williams' 'Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis' would induce waves of homesickness and I couldn't listen to it without crying.
It still makes me feel emotional.

Almost unbearably so.

But so very beautiful merlot.

Having lost my daughter six months ago, I went out for the first time to a meeting - U3A with a speaker on the history of popular songs. I was fine until he came onto the wartime songs and played 'We'll meet again'.........

Every Time We Say Goodbye sung by Ella Fitzgerald-my mother chose it for my father's funeral. Says so much about them. Also Stars from Les Mis and a pipe band playing The Black Bear

Yes, I'm a blubber too. For me it's "Forever Autumn" and, strangely enough, the duet from The Pearl Fishers!

Not a song but 'Sunset' played by the Royal Marines always brings tears to my eyes.

Always there. The Howard's Way theme. It was my beloved late husband's and my favourite.
We played it at the start of every sea passage on our boat, and the organist played it as I followed his coffin out of the church.

I appreciate music ( all kinds) and listen to it all the time, but don't have any 'special' songs that would make me feel tearful.

I don't usually cry at songs but when I hear The Living Years by Mike and the Mechanics I get a lump in my throat.

I can't listen to Bright Eyes, Dedicated to the One I Love or For the Good Times without crying.

Love is a many splendid thing, I cry my eyes out every time I watch this film with the same title.

"You raise me up" always gets me going too.
