How much did the tooth fairy bring you?

Apparently £20 is becoming the norm, thank goodness I don't have young children!

Pretty sure the tooth fairy never visited our house when I was small.
My own GC get a shiny pound coin each tooth.

I don't remember, too long ago. Our children used to get a 50pence piece for each tooth and my DGS gets £2 coin.

I used to get 6d per tooth and my DC, if I remember correctly got no more than 50p. Their children get £1 per tooth.

6d then a shilling (then10p) IIRC Pretty sure I didn't get extra for a big tooth though! And just how do you slide a note instead of a coin under a pillow?

I think a pound would be about right these days. Just enough to be a treat and not too much.

I got a very shiny sixpence per tooth. My mother must have kept the new ones, or had the polish out for the older ones! My DGC get a £2 coin. The last time that DGD put a tooth under her pillow the Tooth Fairy gave her a £1 coin and some costume jewellery. She was surprised but delighted.

She didn't - my mother didn't 'believe' in such things .

The tooth fairy hadn't been invented when I was a child. Can't remember how much she gave my children but my grandchildren all get £1.
I kept all of my children's baby teeth. One or two got lost at school or swallowed.
We didn't get Easter eggs either, when did they become common?

Definitely a shiny sixpence! What a strange idea really, "allowing" a fairy stranger to come at night, lift the pillow and all!

Exciting though! We certainly had Easter eggs as well.

£20, or £10 seems out of all proportion to me. Even £5 is pushing it a bit IMHO.

I think my DGC get £1 per tooth. If £20 was on offer they wold be pulling out their teeth with pliers

Not common in my own young days, but own children 50p. Inflation to blame for DGC receiving £2 a time.

My grandchildren in California get $1 which is about 66p. I used to get 6d.
I agree with Granny 23 - children would be pulling teeth out to get £10 or more.....

I think 6d, I cannot really remember. £10 a tooth is nonsense, considering the number that we have!
