Alea Dear Grace appears to be none the worse for her unfortunate accident. A couple in the village have adopted a rescue Greyhound. She is beautiful. She also has a very smart overcoat when out for long walks in the rain.

A mini magnum is just what I need. Thank you dusty. I need to leave room for a Christmas 'do' with NWR friends. Our evening's hostess is a wonderful baker; and the best of it is that as I am getting a lift, I can have a small draft of something bubbly.

I unwrapped said parcel. Re-wrapped Granddaughter's gift and transferred all gifts into a larger box. It's only taken an hour to complete the task. Where are Santa's little helpers when we need them!

Don't be depressed Alea. My cousins, (only one was able meet us last week) have had nine retired greyhounds, mostly three at a time. Only one serious accident, I think she was the youngest, retired as "unsuitable". They are totally besotted with them.
I didn't know until last week that the whippet is crossed with a collie and seems to have missed the couch potato gene. She is still only about two years old and known within the family for being lively!

What about the good old lurcher?! Half greyhound half something. We,'ve had two and they,'ve had / got the sweetest natures. They do sleep a lot though!

Welcome to our kitchen wotanusanceABC123 Love the name. Make yourself at home. Is the Lurcher part Wolfhound? Or am I not on the right track? A lady near the village has/had a couple of Wolfhounds. They are/were magnificent creatures.

Our long deceased Heidi was a lurcher, although she looked the spitting image of her mum, who was a greyhound, and she wasn`t into exercise much at all, a quick spurt and home again in front of the fire. I love that last pic of Grace.
Today I had to go to pick up 2 prescriptions from the surgery and have them made up at the chemists. Due to hubby not wanting to move his car in case he lost his spot, I had to go by taxi. This usually takes an hour, at the very most, and costs £7 to £7.50 in fares. Today, due to road closures and a gridlocked town, it took over 2 hours and cost £12.20 in taxi fares! So much for free prescriptions, next time I think we`ll do without till the roads are back to normal!

That sounds like an expensive prescription! One thing we have here out in the country are dispensing GP practices. You see the doc, then just pick the meds up straight away at the surgery. Mind you, we have to drive about 10 miles to get there in the first place! - and there is no sewerage, or nearby shops, or lights or.........!

The wind has been unbelievable overnight here, but no visible damage when we woke up this morning. I have to go to the Post Office about 3 miles away and it is in an exposed place. Last time I went there a gust blew me into the hedge and OH had to rescue me - fingers crossed!

The window cleaner has just been and relieved me of all my folding money! And it's raining. So much for clean windows and frames. Must get organised and go out to lunch with a couple of good friends.By way of the bank!
We had a lot of fun at last night's Christmas party - hostess's baking was well up to standard and we played pass the parcel like a bunch of five-year-olds except that they would have observed the rules! Raised the already high roof of the barn conversion! Tonight there's the am dram Christmas production of the Snow Queen.

Hi everyone! Surfacing after a superb holiday, and being overwhelmed by Christmas - we got back at the beginning of November to winter and festivities beginning.

It was a glorious Devon day yesterday - blue skies, sunshine etc. now it's back to the usual rain, rain, rain. But I have begun the Christmas cards - I.e. got them laid out ready to write....

I have part cleaned my pal's silver collection and all of her brass/copper collection. A further hour or so this afternoon and I shall have earned some Brownie points.

It is bright, nippy and breezy. The postie has delivered umpteen well packed parcels containing items I have found new on eBay and will be posting to our grandchildren. Two beautiful ponchos [plaid] are extremely good value. It's a buyers market at the mo'.

Luckygirl Same here...no lights, mains water, and we have a septic tank. Still wouldn't swop our location for a King's ransom.

Final hour of silver cleaning accomplished. I am so thankful that the one piece that I own is a photograph frame. I would hate to have to faff around with an entire collection.

I tried filling in the form to get the prescriptions sent to the chemists, then we just pick the meds up, but we didn`t qualify, as some of our meds have to be signed for.
A very dark, dull day today, then rain, b ut at least the wind isn`t as strong as it was last night.

bags has alerted me to the shocking news that harrigran has learned that she has cancer. She is a lovely lady and I feel so sad for her and her family.

Yes - a worrying time for harrigran - I am sure we are all rooting for her.

OH and I on our knees. DD + 2 year old GD + 7 month old GS have ben here all day. DGD does not behave as well when her Mum and brother are there as she does when we have her on her own each week. Poor DD! It is truly exhausting! We are not getting any younger.

Definitely keeping everything crossed for Harrigran, horribly worrying bout time for her and her family.

Luckygirl I think many of us feel like that DGS is gorgeous but he starts at 5.30am eyes wide open and fully revved up... We were only staying for the weekend and both of us said we need to get fitter (and younger!) but wouldn't miss the time for anything.

Number 2 DGC on the way, end of May!! , can't wait!
