Addresses on Christmas card envelopes... handwritten or printed?

I do print them, but include a picture of a jolly Father Christmas or a nicely wrapped parcel on the corner of the label.
It's also my Christmas card 'list'

No, I hate the labels. I've had three so far all from people who don't have physical limitations to stop them writing. As you say, I love recognising or guessing the writing. However, it does seem to be getting used more.

I do use labels because i have arthritis in my hands and have no problem with others doing the same. My hand writing is not good now so it is also probably better for the PO.

Handwriting on coloured envelopes (especially red!) can be hard to read, which is why the PO prefer labels.

I used to use them when we sent out loads of cards, but now the list has been severely pruned it's just as easier to write the addresses.

Red envelopes written with gold ink which SiL uses are even more difficult to read.

Handwritten every time. I was in the Post Office the other day taking out a second mortgage buying stamps and in front of me in the queue was a girl around 20 buying a stamp, she had to ask the man serving her where to put the stamp on the envelope

Handwritten but only because I can't work out how to do the labels on our new printer(which doesn't like printing photos either, blasted thing!).
I opened one box of cards to discover the envelopes are black! Fat lot of good for writing on unless I go and buy a silver or gold pen ?

Labels - mail-merged from two spreadsheets, one for UK addresses and the other The Colonies.

And when I have used all the labels I have printed - I know I'm finished!

I received one card addressed to the right house number, the not-quite right street name, the name of a Welsh Village, "S.Wales", and a non-existent Post code. Well, I crossed out "S. Wales" and substituted the Post Town (in capitals!) "CALDICOT" (Never heard of it, but still ...) and tacked on the appropriate Post Code, and shoved it back into the post.

I think I live about 190 miles away from Caldicot! Oh and I still get cards addressed correctly except the address includes the county we used to be in forty years ago.

I can recommend free software from Avery, called Design and Print, for labels and mail-merging - it can be a bit of a nightmare to do yourself, but the application makes it a doddle.

I write them but only because I haven't bothered setting up the printing.I have no opinion as to how they arrive as they get thrown away. I expect the post office would much prefer labels to my writing!

I write them. Part of the process but don't mind receiving labels as long as the envelope contains a card not a bill.

We got a card last year with a printed label instead of any signature!

I print the labels and also print a Christmas card list and cross off because DH on receiving each card keeps saying have we sent one to XYZ and I can say check the list. I sometimes feel like getting all mumsnetty and telling him to do his own friends and rellies. But I think he would lose them all.my writing is not good at the moment. The oddest card was when someone had cards printed but didn't sign it . I thought a printed card should also have a signature.

feetlebaum we once addressed a card to an address in 'Stroat, Gloucs.' It arrived 3 weeks after Christmas having gone via John O' Groats.
Perhaps the PO thought it was rhyming code!

I'm tickled pink that I am not the only one who can't figure out how to print labels with my fancy new printer. So I handwrite them. But if the envelope is coloured then I write on a white label and stick it on with sellotape. And I do try to write clearly.

I laboriously typed out 50 addresses onto the online label sheet, one at a time, and then idiot that I am, printed them onto the wrong side of the label sheets. So now I'm hand writing the whole lot again.
It'll be e-cards for all next year!
