Nina It may be possible to order it by email, but while I can still walk 300 yards to the postbox at the end of the road, I'll stick with the system. Getting the piece of paper is no problem. I walk to the shops anyway for my shopping, so I can get it dispensed at the same time. When I get too old or infirm to do that, I shall consider alternatives (by then I could be in a care home with someone else worrying about things like that)

I had the chemist delivery man deliver my medication for over Christmas. As I was wishing him a Merry Christmas as he was going, I said

"Merry Christmas, have a good time, bye, love you!"

I shut the door and burst into fits of giggles, my DS thought I was having a fit! I phoned the chemist later that day and explained that if the delivery driver came back a bit pale it was my fault! I saw him the other day but he just ran past me.

Elegran have you asked your surgery if you can order a repeat by e-mail. We can.

Once a year I write my own name on an envelope because my SiL has the same first initial as me and neither of us have middle names. When I write her birthday card never fails to feel weird and make me smile.

I think it would be all too easy to write your own name and address on an envelope, especially if you'd been writing it a lot for some reason - form filling or something.

I'm sure they're trying their hardest, we just need to be patient with them for the minute.

Every way of ordering takes a few days. I have tried having the pharmacy take over the ordering, and to be honest, there was exactly as much work for me as dropping an envelope into the pillarbox at the end of the road would be. The efficient pharmacy doesn't deliver. The one that does deliver is inefficient.

Sometimes the best way will be to give the Pharmacy a call and they can order it for you, or if I'm ever passing I will drop in and they order it there and then, it does take 3 days though!

I still have to take the prescription to the pharmacy and be filled, but the items are usually in stock and only take a few minutes to dispense so it is one trip. When DH was very ill his medicines were delivered automatically, and mine with them, but that was from a different pharmacy further away - who made a couple of mistakes.

Going to the surgery is about four times as far as the nearest pharmacy. I would not like to walk there with the request, then again to collect it, in bad weather (I could get a bus along the main road part, but both my house and the surgery are at a distance from the bus route so I would not save very much)

I order my repeat prescriptions on line and the surgery sends them on line to the pharmacy from where I collect them. Could get them delivered but I like to be there in person to be sure I'm getting the correct items.

I don't think my surgery gives that option! You have to collect it yourself from the surgery or have it sent to a local pharmacy.

I write my own name and address on an stamped envelope each time I want a repeat prescription, and staple it to the repeat part. If the weather is good and I feel like a walk, I drop it into the surgery, if not I enclose it in another envelope and post it to them. After a few days the repeat prescription drops through my letter box. I did once get the envelopes the wrong way round and had to start again.

(Before someone tells me I could get it done by the pharmacy, yes I did that for a while but after a couple of mistakes and being missed out, I decided that I was better being in control myself)

I can't understand why anyone would write their own name and address on an envelope - the days of having to enclose an s.a.e. are long-gone!

I often write notes to myself, only to find that I either can't read them or don't understand what they mean.

I had a senior moment this morning. Not for the first time, I went for an hour long walk carrying a bag of cat litter tray contents! I had meant to deposit them in the bin on my way out.

One of my brothers and one of my DD write like me, so I wouldn't be concerned to start with.

I'd be seriously worried if I didn't recognise my own handwriting!
