DH and I having debate over new duvet.....does stitching run up and down the bed or across? It's superkingsize so almost, but not quite square. One of life's mysteries.......

I put the duvet in the cover either way, doesn't seem to affect the warmth or anything else!i

I think up and down makes it snuggle round you more cosily.

aggie Tue 12-Jan-16 12:39:29

Slightly longer / wider bit goes across bed

rubysong Tue 12-Jan-16 13:22:15

I would put it with the stitching going from head to foot.

ninathenana Tue 12-Jan-16 13:34:05

Food for thought, I've always put mine in with the stitching running across hmm

kittylester Tue 12-Jan-16 13:40:42

The stitching on ours goes both ways confused

annodomini Tue 12-Jan-16 13:41:48

Mine is stitched in squares which means that the filling stays put.

Indinana Tue 12-Jan-16 13:44:00

Same as kitty. And mine's a king size so it is exactly square.

kittylester Tue 12-Jan-16 13:47:17

Ours is too Indinana, so I try to take the cover off in position or I get very confused.

Indinana Tue 12-Jan-16 14:09:30

Why confused, kitty? Being perfectly square it doesn't matter which way the cover goes back on - that's the beauty of it!

Charleygirl Tue 12-Jan-16 14:10:54

Mine is similar to anno's- it makes such a difference on a cold night not finding the entire duvet close to the bottom of the bed and me shivering under the cover on its own.

I think that mine is slightly longer- I have never had to think about it.

kittylester Tue 12-Jan-16 14:27:11

I try to rotate it or the squares at the top seem to get flatter.

aggie Tue 12-Jan-16 14:41:29

my King sized isn't square confused

Indinana Tue 12-Jan-16 14:48:35

Oh I see what you mean kitty! Yes that's what I do too, which is why it's so handy being a true square!

Indinana Tue 12-Jan-16 14:50:42

I've had 3 kingsuze quilts aggie and they've all been square. Without checking, I think they're 200 x 200 cm

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 12-Jan-16 18:30:13

Double quilts are square. I would think Kingsize would be wider, but not longer.

From the Duvet Store

Ana Tue 12-Jan-16 18:38:01

Yes, usually double duvets are square. All the other sizes have one side slightly longer than the other (but I don't know whether that's width-wise or length-wise!)

Lillie Tue 12-Jan-16 19:30:32

I've always put mine with the wider bit across the bed,so if you have a bed partner who hogs the covers there is always plenty left for you.

tanith Tue 12-Jan-16 20:02:03

Mines stitched in squares but it is longer one way than the other by a few inches, its Kingsize .

Teetime Tue 12-Jan-16 20:05:35

I do mine up and down ways and its nearly square king size.

Jalima Tue 12-Jan-16 20:16:30

Ours is stitched in squares too.

Charleygirl Tue 12-Jan-16 20:26:02
