DH and I having debate over new duvet.....does stitching run up and down the bed or across? It's superkingsize so almost, but not quite square. One of life's mysteries.......

Hats off to all contributors. Long time since I've had such amusement from such trivia. I've been doing the dreaded duvet thing for years and nothing crosses my mind other than getting the chore done. Grab the first corner then go for it 'any which way and loose!'

I had one fro M & S and on the tag it said stitching from side to side

Mine is stitched in squares which means that the filling stays put.

And ours!

I like the burrito roll method of getting that cover on and off:

If you use a top sheet the duvet stays in place all night and does not get hogged by one of you.

The stitching in all ours goes both ways too.

The important thing in my mind is not to have the buttons or whatever fastens the cover under your chin, but at the foot of the bed,

We have a kingsize bed with two single duvets. This stops anyone hogging the duvet, and sometimes one of us decides it's winter while the other is still in summer mode!

Spot on jinglbellsfrocks.
My king sized is wider but not longer and i put it in the cover with the lines vertical as apparently the heat stays in.

I think the one with most squares goes across the bed

We have a king size bed but we each have a single duvet! So much easier to change the covers, no tug o'war in the night and we know which way they go on the bed! ??

Well! What a surprise! I haven’t seen a single post from anyone who hates duvets. Which way the duvet goes is not a problem for me because I have never liked them. They are so unversatile (is that a word?). You either pull them over yourself, and get too warm, or push them off and get chilly. There is no happy medium.
I much prefer the old-fashioned layers, which can be adjusted at will to suit the temperature required. I really dislike staying in hotels where I invariably wake up in the middle of the night feeling far too hot, and unable to do anything about it.
Am I alone in feeling this way?
