Not Hi! Whatever happened to the word "Hello" - these days everyone seems to say "Hi!". Why? I am sorely tempted to say "Low" when I am greeted this way. Sorry, that is another grumpy voice, but would like to know how others feel about this, perhaps it does not bother you at all.

I grew up close to South Wales anniebach in the Forest of Dean, and standard greeting there was 'Ow be, old butt'

I'm following the trends - hi in emails, Hello on the phone and either face to face.

I say 'Hello' and write 'Hi' - but in e-mails only.

My oddest usage this week is from my son. I asked a question by e-mail which required a yes/no answer and got back one word, 'Legit.'

Apparently, this meant, 'Yes.'

I was recently greeted by an 'old flame' of mine who has hippyish tendencies. He says "YO! How you hangin'?" I'm speechless! confused

I use hello to strangers and when on the phone but to people I kow it is either hi or alright.
