Jalima we will never go hungry- I believe if one cannot speak the language in any country, all one has to do is to SHOUT in English and we will be understood. I have not tried it but there is always a first time.

So much choice of suitable races! What shall I choose? Giggling too much t decide. grin

LullyDully Sat 06-Aug-16 12:38:07

P.S. what ever makeover Claire Balding has had, can I have one too? (Just not a Brazilian.) She looks fab.

gettingonabit Sat 06-Aug-16 14:04:39

lully I was thinking the same thing about Claire Balding!

She's lost weight, but she looks so much more....feminine somehow. Her hair is much less helmet-like too.

Gold medal for grunting when getting up of the sofa to turn the TV off, DH gets the silver!

downtoearth Sat 06-Aug-16 15:55:57

Twerking event

This is the dance you do when you need to undo your trousers quickly to stop a dry event becoming a wet one

downtoearth Sat 06-Aug-16 15:58:51

Endurance event

Fighting with a stubborn Cork in a bottle of wine event, involves tightening and gripping of knees, arm wrestling into submission....especially if marked as lively on the bottle

downtoearth Sat 06-Aug-16 16:00:13

Has anyone entered for horizontal jogging?grin

grannylyn65 Sat 06-Aug-16 16:06:58

gringringrin

merlotgran Sat 06-Aug-16 16:08:23

Oh do please explain how we qualify for the above, downtoearth? grin

downtoearth Sat 06-Aug-16 16:20:20

Well it's really a two person event....so first you find a team mate....practice is the key word to this event, maybe some flexibility and perhaps manual dexterity....then a race to the finish line..if both parties don't finish at the same time the first past the post is the winner and usually too tired for a lap of honour

millymouge Sat 06-Aug-16 16:33:25

Please could we have an event for tripping over a large dog (swear he hides) and dropping plate of cakes on the floor. Great speed needed in beating off two dogs before they got more than one each (and as the floor was washed yesterday putting the rest back on the plate DH didn't know and said they were very nice).

rubysong Sat 06-Aug-16 16:48:06

My event is the 'finding things in obvious places when DH has looked and says it isn't there'.
Late DM was champion at jumping to conclusions.

kittylester Sat 06-Aug-16 17:19:01

I'm entering the trying to get the bloody enormous sage out of the herb bed in 25 degree heat without looking like a beetroot - so far, I'm not doing too well! Could we make it a team event?

'downtoearth', i nearly inadvertently entered the wet twerking event while reading your post! grinblush

merlotgran Sat 06-Aug-16 17:29:44

grin downtoearth Is there a consolation prize for anyone falling asleep?

kittylester Sat 06-Aug-16 17:41:34

During the event or after, merlot?

merlotgran Sat 06-Aug-16 17:46:33

grin kitty. There should be a special medal for anyone waking up and still managing to stagger across the finishing line.

downtoearth Sat 06-Aug-16 17:58:46

Or even a medal for entering sometimes grin

downtoearth Sat 06-Aug-16 18:03:29

millymouge had a trial run for tripping over large dog event....I wear my scars with pride after face planting the street after newly acquired greyhound sent me hurdling over her shoulder.. decided not to enter ...

AlieOxon Sat 06-Aug-16 19:14:29

I decided to look for the missing GNers....found two of them asleep half under the sand for the long jump....said they were waiting to say 'boo' as the first jumper landed....

Dunno where the other three got to though

Swanny Sat 06-Aug-16 19:42:16

Please can I be a judge for the horizontal jogging event? blush grin blush

NanKate Sat 06-Aug-16 21:22:15

Well Downtoearth you have really opened up a can if worms. grin.

I suspect the a French team will win as they practise more than the GB team, or is it the Latin nations ?

GandTea I trust you have been a perfect gentleman with the Brazilian ladies we have standards to uphold.

Kitty will you please get out of the herb bed, you need to be or practising for the GN donkey dressage tomorrow. Do you have all your clothes nicely pressed as Princess Anne could be watching ?

NanKate Sat 06-Aug-16 21:22:51

Of not if hmm

GandTea Sat 06-Aug-16 21:36:12

it seems that the ladies I met are part of the beach volley ball team. it would appear that Brazilian ladies are very poor as they cannot afford many clothes. I am trying to uphold my end, as you suggest Nankate. I hope to return to the training camp in a day or two (well crawl back probably).

I want to compete in the doggy paddle race, Ive never quite mastered doing both arm movements and correct leg movements in breast stroke but Im quite fast with the doggy paddle.
