.I thought my stomach was in my tummy.

What has made you embarrassed?

PRINTMISS Sat 03-Sep-16 07:49:10

Surely, as long as your heart is in the right place, it really doesn't matter if you know where the other bits are, or what they are called - unless of course you are a paramedic/doctor/nurse.

I may wish I hadn't started it!
I expected others to say their embarrassing moments if they wanted to, though I couldnt remember if that had been done before.

I think you could fill this thread all by yourself obi wink

Thanks for starting this off.

Am about to start a full day's decorating and this has given me such a laugh.

I didn't do well at Biology at school and so over the years have been surprised, and deeply embarrased, by my ignorance !

embo32 Sat 03-Sep-16 11:02:00

Oh my.

Anya Sat 03-Sep-16 11:02:29

Before I roastchicken I'd like to suggest, kindly, to you obi that if your stomach is in fact under your 'left boob' you are in seriously need of a decent bra hmm

obieone Sat 03-Sep-16 11:18:36

Maybe!

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 03-Sep-16 11:49:57

Err... I think she might have meant 'below'. (Which is accurate) Difficult interpretation that. hmm #sarcasm

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 03-Sep-16 11:52:31

My embarrassing moments inevitablly revolve around farting. Loud and long. #helpless

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 03-Sep-16 11:53:27

Actually, it's usually DD who is more embarrassed than I am. I am learning to live with it.

TerriBull Sat 03-Sep-16 13:16:59

I don't think anyone who's left primary school should use the word "tummy" it's very babyish reminds me of those strange fully fledged adults who still call their parents mummy and daddy.

We shouldn't be embarrassed about farting around our other half, mine has asked me to kindy refrain from doing so in his precious car, I don't know why, it's as good a place as anyblush We were created to expel air or silently suffer sad looking at all that inner tubing (intestines) it has to come out somewhere otherwise heaven forbid surely we would combust shock

I do confess to not doing it around my children or heaven forbid grandchildren, although they do it around me accompanied by giggling description of the act. Still at the lavatory stage grin

Oh my goodness! I have.been teaching my Laos medical students wrongly. Been doing the body and various names for different parts of the body in good old English, included some slang as well in case they get some drunken youth with gut rot! The question I wasaskedwas why do we say ear ache instead of ear pain?

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 03-Sep-16 13:19:18

Nothing wrong with "tummy"! hmm

I don't fart deliberately around anybody. I blame healthy oat breakfasts.

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 03-Sep-16 13:21:49

I get called 'mummy' by son. I did try to get him out of it when he was sixteen. Given up now.

Ana Sat 03-Sep-16 13:22:29

I prefer 'tummy' to 'belly' which some children seem to call it these days...

Direne3 Sat 03-Sep-16 13:37:05

Anyone else find themselves instinctively touching each area as it is mentioned in these posts.
Ps. I too always thought the word tummy a little childish but often notice doctors using it when talking to patients on tv programmes).

obieone Sat 03-Sep-16 13:38:10

I think everyone around here says tummy. Including the nurse. It was her who said that a lot of patients do not know where there stomach is.

TerriBull Sat 03-Sep-16 13:46:02

I get "yes mummy" when preceded with my comment you will need to pay that back following a request for a tide over loan till payday. Bank of Mum and Dad hmm

obieone Sat 03-Sep-16 13:58:30

What word do people call it, if not tummy and now not stomach.
People cannot be saying I have a pain in my lower intestines surely?
