Hotel pornography

Just stayed at 4 start hotel for Mrs P 70th birthday. I was shocked (and I don't shock easily) that they offered hard pron films on their hotel TV menu. I am well aware that such films are easily available via the internet. but would not have expected such extreme films to be openly offered on a hotel TV. The films were as bad as any I have seen on the internet. Even children would have been able to see their content, if not the actual film. I guess that some couples enjoy such titillation to enhance their experience. I have seen similar options in hotels in Holland and Germany, but never here before. Before you ask, NO, we did not watch them.

During business travel, whilst staying at respectable hotels, I too noticed that such films were on offer, at an additional charge.

There was also a note saying what they would appear as on the final bill, designed to appear as something innocuous!

How did you know if they were as bad as those on the Internet if you didn't watch them? Why do you watch them on the Internet if you don't like them? No one is forcing you to watch them. I think they're ghastly, yes I have watched some, mostly out of curiousity , and I wouldn't choose to watch them again, but it's not illegal, so the hotel is just trying to cater for those customers who like that sort of thing.

I don't think that was what WB was saying. I read it as a protest that such a thing was so readily available?

Jane10 Sun 11-Sep-16 17:24:18

But the OP must have looked at them in order to say they were 'hard porn'.

Wobblybits Sun 11-Sep-16 17:28:46

No I didn't, the menu described them quite graphically enough. I would not repeat the description on here.

Wobblybits Sun 11-Sep-16 17:32:45

Yes I have seen what is on the internet, I do not deny that, but I don't watch them. Neither did we (I was with my wife) watch tehm at the hotel. It was however obvious that the content was extream, the word anal, gave it away. This post was about my shock that such films should be available in British hotels.

Why were you shocked? As you watch porn on the internet you must know that it's very popular, therefore lucrative.

Not my scene but each to their own.

Presumably you weren't staying at Legoland or Disney.

suzied Sun 11-Sep-16 17:38:20

Well it's readily available everywhere, not just in hotels, so if she/ he is protesting about it being readily available, then it's not just hotels where pornography is available is it? So is it a protest about pornography in general , or just about it being available in hotels.? I am sure any customer choosing to watch this stuff knows what they're in for, as it is clearly described. So, I am not sure what exactly the OP is complaining about.

Wobblybits Sun 11-Sep-16 17:38:41

I would not have wanted my Gc to see the graphical descriptions of the films, and these were openly seen on the TV menu.

suzied Sun 11-Sep-16 17:40:24

Sorry, posts crossed, you were complaining about hotels, but my point still stands, they are catering for their customers and noone has to watch it.

suzied Sun 11-Sep-16 17:41:05

How many ( underage) GC are alone in hotels?

TriciaF Sun 11-Sep-16 17:44:48

Reminds me of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire.
No room for moral standards now, it's all about what makes money.

Wobblybits Sun 11-Sep-16 17:47:25

Riverwalk, I said I had seen what was on the internet, not that i regularly watch it, big difference.

Suzied, It's he, and what shocked me was that it the descriptions of the films could have been seen by children, unacceptable. You could not view any TV programmes without going through the menu system.

As I said earlier, we did not watch any of them, can think of better things to spend £15 on.

Perhaps I am of an age where such things are just not nice and not what i personally want to see.

Wobblybits Sun 11-Sep-16 17:51:58

Suzzied, I appreciate that they are obviously catering for a demand, just shocked that it exists. I obviously must be a prude.

There were a lot of children staying as their were several wedding parties (I would hope that the newly weds did not need additional titillation)

Jane10 Sun 11-Sep-16 17:56:50

Just don't click on the 'adult' only movie selection on the hotel tv menu. I know they are there but it never crossed my mind to go on and read the description of the content.

Jane10 Sun 11-Sep-16 17:58:12

Also, who leaves young GCs alone in hotel bedrooms?

Wobblybits Sun 11-Sep-16 18:03:27

Jane10, you are probably right that no one would leave a child alone in a hotel room. Perhaps i am being over concerned. I am obviously in a minority in being shocked that pornography would be available in a hotel. Just seems wrong to me.

I will duck out of this thread now. I'm sure that someone somewhere agrees that it should not be this way, but apparently not on GN.

Riverwalk Sun 11-Sep-16 18:04:01

Why do you keep repeating that you didn't watch them? grin

Wobblybits Sun 11-Sep-16 18:07:04

Because I bloody didn't and i would hate anyone to think I did.

Wobblybits Sun 11-Sep-16 18:08:40

I'm starting to wish I hadn't started this.

suzied Sun 11-Sep-16 18:12:55

I may sound like I am defending such stuff, I'm not, just saying that it's no worse being available on a hotel TV, than being available on your smart phone or tablet, which with hotel wifi, you could just watch anyway. I expect a lot more kids watch porn on their phones than watch it in hotels.

Wobblybits Sun 11-Sep-16 18:23:53

Suzied , you are right in some respects, but to watch porn on the internet i would have to make an effort to find it, to have it openly offered on a hotel menu was what shocked me. But as I said before I am a prude in these matters and do not wish porn to be openly available.

Ana Sun 11-Sep-16 18:27:59

Are you saying that if a child had for some reason been left alone in a hotel room he or she could have instantly accessed porn via the TV list?

Wobblybits Sun 11-Sep-16 18:38:29

Not sure, I didn't go that far, but they could see the graphical description that include phrases like " anal sex"

I would hope that in order to actually watch their would have been safeguards, but I opted out at that point.
