droopy boobs and bras - problems buying

For years I have been buying bras from Marks but for months I have been trying them on in shop, think they fit at the time and then at home find them extremely uncomfortable and have to return them. I have tried expensive and cheap, under wired and not and am having no luck. I am at the moment wearing a sports bra from asda! Is this an age thing, when everything goes south? I get so hot and bothered trying half a dozen on in the shops. Benn measured in marks and john lewis - different sizes! Anyone else have same problems?

I've just bought some from John Lewis and they are fine. They are underwired, balcony but can't remember the make.

Groan. A minefield. I have scars from surgery and anything but a pull on seamless is a no go area.

Yes jordana - I could have written your post! I now only wear pull on bras from Sainsburys.

I'm like you jordana, tried lots of different kinds, none are comfy. I hate it!

For daily use I wear a M & S sports bra quite tightly fitting , I've always hated being a large size and I find that a sports bra minimises my boobs and is far more comfortable.

i bought two new bras at M and S on Tuesday and they are so comfortable. I had help from a lovely assistant who although she was not allowed to measure, she sure knew her stuff when it came to bras!!! She went back and forth from the changing room until the perfect one was found. I have kept the cardboard with the details which was attached to the little hangers so that i can re order them on line and will know they will fit.

A few years ago I went into J. Lewis in in Oxford St. and got properly measured . The lady recommended the Triumph Doreen bra and I've been wearing it ever since. (Not the same bra!)You can buy them online.
Up to then I had been buying 38B, and found I should have 34E.
They're not boned or underwired.

I have D cup, non wired bras and have never found anything supportive or comfy enough in M&S. Mind you haven't looked for a couple of years. I buy mine from Berlei.com by email.

Bravissimo have a good selection if you need a large cup size bra. I wear a 34E Fantasie full cup style which fits well and is comfortable.

I'm so glad I was born with very small boobs, my SIL suffers, I feel for you all

Ana Thu 10-Nov-16 19:47:26

I think most of us were born with very small boobs, LadyGracie! grin

I was 34D, sometimes DD, for many years and always found M&S Total Support bras an ideal fit. Annoyingly, some of the designs only started at 36.

I hate shopping for bras! The last one I bought is wonderfully comfortable but the straps fall off my shoulders as I am unable to make them any shorter unless I alter them, and I'm afraid of making them lumpy. I don't like being measured. I've seen Miss Mary of Sweden advertised and wonder what they are like.

Jalima Thu 10-Nov-16 20:15:12

I didn't have any when I was born.
However, they sprouted when I was about 12.

hildajenni if the straps fall off your shoulders I think a bra fitter would tell you that you are wearing the wrong size. Pluck up the courage and get measured - in a specialist shop if possible, not M&S.

hildajenni I used to have the same problem with straps falling off, this bra from M & S solved the problem it has silicone inside the straps that stop it slipping and its comfy too..

No boobs until the menopause, now a 36D. Tried M and S for years with little satisfaction and gave up with them when an assistant informed me I was very difficult to fit! Got measured at a local department store and found the Triumph Amourette soooo comfortable. A tad expensive so made do with 2 until I found them on Amazon, sometimes on the daily deals at £7! Underwired, lacy, supportive and have now been wearing them for 8 years.

The most comfortable and most natural is no bra - not that I do.

hildajenniJ Thu 10-Nov-16 23:03:54

Thanks tanith but I can't stand underwired bras. I would love to go braless but don't have the wardrobe to accommodate it.?

jordana Thu 10-Nov-16 23:24:04

I go bra less at home when no one is in and hope I don't have to answer the door!?

oldgoat Thu 10-Nov-16 23:37:11

DD and I went down to London to buy some fancy lingerie for her wedding. The assistant at Rigby and Peller (where the Queen gets her bras) assessed our cup sizes by eye and we left with some well-fitting and very expensive bras
However, the process is not for the shy, involving hands being plunged into bra cups and flesh being manouvered into position. Remember Trinny and Suzannah doing something similar in their make-over programme?

Shanma Fri 11-Nov-16 00:17:33

Grangegran I like the Triumph Amourette too. I am not particularly busty though, 36b, never been measured though so perhaps I am wearing the wrong size. Anyway they are comfy, and quite a pretty bra too I think.

Shanma Fri 11-Nov-16 00:19:04

Gosh, Oldgoat, I wonder if the Queen has her Boobies manouvered into position? Perish the thought!

I am in the same boat as many of you . Tried every bra type but they all hurt my back , underwired give me a rash too ! I have ended up with ghastly pull on front fastening thingies . I would just love a sexy , pretty one but end up having to take them off after an hour of purgatory . I am 36 D so not an unusual size .

shysal Fri 11-Nov-16 09:32:11

I am at my most comfortable when wearing my sports bras. If you like to feel well upholstered it might be worth trying one.
Panache sports bra
