I think I know that. However, if you look in any thesaurus you will see that nickname and alias are synonyms. Do you have a thesaurus? I have two. They both have nickname for alias. Even in a dictioary alias means an assumed name. If a nickname isn't an assumed name, I don't know what is.
While reading A Christmas Carol, the Ghost of Christmas Present yesterday with my grandson, we came across at least half a dozen words that meant happy, which is rather surprising considering what many people remember about the story.
