Prince Charles is campaigning for Camilla to be Queen Camilla when he becomes King. I would not like her to be Queen. I think they both behaved appallingly in carrying on their affair when they were both married to someone else. They had no concern for the hurt, upset and heartbreak they caused Diana and Andrew PB. They just thought it was perfectly OK to act as they did. It's 80 years since Edward abdicated to marry a divorced woman, and Margaret was not able to marry Peter Townsend, even though she was unlikely to ascend the throne. So what rules have changed? He has what he wanted and married her, but making her Queen is condoning their adultery.
But I think I'm in the minority in my view.

Because this isn't Mumsnet. It's Gransnet.
So what. It's all under the same umbrella. Maybe she's on both, it's allowed you know.
William, Kate and Harry have restored my faith in the monarchy and I was never a royalist! However William and Harry have become fine young men, I think they're a credit to their mother and everything about them says they were loved, especially by her, their mother. You can see it, particularly in how William parents.
So all credit to Diana who was treated badly by the rest of the Royals. Hence I think Camella should not become Queen, she behaved badly, she's one of the county set, the kind of upper class twits who have no idea how ordinary people manage and mostly they don't care. She is the past and the Royals have Diana to thank for the resurgence of interest in a monarchy today.
That's my pennyworth!
Usually MNetter age when married, at least Lizzie and di were in that age bracket. GNetters aren't usually looking to hook up.
And Diana wasn't then, she was just a normal everyday person
You'd be surprised then these days Daisy, Im on POF and dating with a view to a having another sexual relationship
Shame on Camilla for what she did? Didn't Charles participate? Who are we to say if Windsors should be adulterers or not?
stillaliveandkicking
Exactly Daisy, but the end the day Im not a pious prig and believe that we are all human, sometimes good people do bad things and unless you actually walk in the other persons shoes, who are you to cast outright condemnation/judgement. I personally don't give a frig what people do behind closed doors unless of course there's outright abuse involved.
Yes, the sainted Diana, a poor girl from below the lower income levels. Certainly not raised at all as Camilla in gentry.
Oh deary me , the windsors are country set , William and Harry included, calling them upper class twits after praising them is strange
As to how William parents his children is due to Diana, true, he keeps his children away from the cameras after a childhood when his mother paraded him for the press.
I agree with Annie on her last post. He has learned by both parents and chosen to do the opposite of their wrongs.
from not by - just in case any pendants are about
So, Diana wasn't one of the 'county set' Azie09 . She was the daughter of Earl Spencer, a direct descendant of the Duke of Marlborough. How 'county' can you get? LMAO!
Of course Diana was 'country set' as are her children and Camilla. We have a disagreement here in my home, about Kate. Middletons - country set or not?
And don't tell me Diana didn't know about Camilla and Charles or the in's and out's of it all. Any normal person wouldn't have touched him with a barge pole let alone marry him. Darling Di knew exactly what she was getting into and let's face it, she had enough affairs herself
)
stillalive and kicking I always understood that Philip had a thing for shopgirls.
He may have trisher who knows, it seems he have had a thing about a lot of girls
An alpha male tends to get a bit pissed off when his wife has other things to do and seems to throw his willy about a bit
I don't agree that Camilla should become Queen. I have learnt to tolerate her over the years for many reasons too long to go into.
The way the world was then the future King had to still marry a virgin bride. Camilla was part of choosing Diana. Yes Diana had affairs however Charles was with Camilla and they never split up. Diana finally realised that was never going to change.
Diana was treated appallingly by the monarchy. Yes I still believe Diana was murdered. They were never going to come out and say ''Oh yes we had your Mom bumped off Wills and Harry'' and the rest of the country.
No I don't believe the monarchy was involved in it. My own personal view it was 1 or more of the secret services which was to do with her charity works (predominately landmines) and choice of partner with Dodi. Too much doesn't add up. Believe me I am not a conspiracy theorists. I studied this from every direction cutting out all the hysteria. No way was it an accident/
Camilla will never be accepted as Queen. Maybe she would have been if Diana had lived and got to have her own personal happiness.
The only reason the monarchy has survived is down to Wills & Harry and that gave the monarchy the space to modernise.
Personally I would rather it pass straight to William too. Though at the rate the Queen is going that isn't impossible to happen. The Queen is 90 and doesn't look like dieing anytime soon.
Charles is already 68 so there is every possibility he may not be well enough or may not be here anyway going on the 3 score years and 10 guideline.
I doubt Camilla would want it anyway as she wouldn't want the aggro that came with it
Ksffi, you could not have followed the inquest into her death , this is about Camilla but I would like to ask one question, why on the night of the accident did Diana and Dodi, will full knowledge of the press outside the Ritz and with a private suite at the ritz go against the advice of the bodyguards and leave the ritz to go to Dodi's apartment?
I wouldn't want William to become king yet. Charles will reign for quite a short period and give William time gestate a bit more before such a heavy burden of having to be "perfect" put upon him.
As for Diana being "killed" No one has an ounce of evidence except for conspiracy theories. Let's face it lots of people thought Elvis was still alive when he'd been dead for years
Stillalive, did you know Paris closed down three hospitals ready for the crash so the ambulance would have to drive to a fourth whilst Diana's brother in law was giving orders from the British embassy - which he had stormed early that evening , problem was he was also in a full church in his home village in England attending a talk by John Mortimer
No Queen Camilla!!! Diana was a nineteen-year-old starry-eyed girl, already damaged by being deserted by her mother when she was six. Charles should have had the maturity to cherish her and make the marriage work.
