grannypiper Mon 22-May-17 20:15:17 That's lovely and I totally identify with that. In the US I lived on the harbour. Whenever a big tanker went out, the lead tug captain always shined his light on our cottage as there were no onshore navigation beacons. It always woke me up in the wee hours, but it was a comforting awakening. The tugs also tooted signals to each other and I could lay there and know exactly where the 'flotilla' of tugs and tanker were in the channel.
THEN, I could go back to sleep. Thanks for tickling my own memory!
