I often take a look at 'That's Not my Age' which is 'the grown up guide to great style' according to the writer Alyson Walsh.

What sites do you find informative and interesting?

Macmillan online forum for me as I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2008. Like to go on and help others going through treatment. Also Facebook groups for members of the same age born in the same area.

I'm a bit addicted to Pinterest and have actually got quite into art as a result. If you are looking for a good blog I can recommend Spitalfields life. You don't have to be a Londoner to enjoy it and there's a new post everyday with a huge collection of past posts to catch up on.

I belong to 2 forums that restrict membership and are fairly private.
Plus I`m a member on the Kintyre forum, but it seems to be dying a death these days.

Currently: Gransnet, Facebook, Youtube, my betting sites, Quora, Amazon, E-bay, my banks, Martin Lewis, Motley Fool and WOW.

I liked Streetlife too but found that 'Nextdoor' wanted a lot of personal information which was then available to all. I didn't want my full name and address for all to see as there are enough cold calls already.

I too miss Streetlife and found the tradesmen recommendations useful. I didn't want to join Nextdoor.

Streetlife accepted a takeover offer. End of.

Am hooked on Pinterest, so handy for ideas and everything under the sun basically ?

Bluecat Mon 28-Aug-17 17:46:03

Pinterest, FB, The Daily Mash (makes me laugh, but the tv version is not nearly so good), The Guardian quick crossword, Archive Of Our Own (I have a weakness for reading fan fiction, especially Sherlock Holmes), Amazon (yes, I know it's run by Satan but it's good for book previews....)

MissAdventure, I agree with you about Streetlife and Nextdoor is nowhere as good. I gave it a try but I've left now too. There are no chats it's all about buying, selling, gardening and garage sharing, total rubbish. Bring back Streetlife I say.

I wish someone could start a new Streetlife. That's how my book group started. Numbers have dwindled and now we need more members but there's no Streetlife to advertise the group. Also my Italian conversation group started through S-L. It was a brilliant local notice board for events, things for sale, warnings of scams etc. We all left Next door, issues with privacy.

I like Mumsnet, Facebook, Martin Lewis, and Sixtyandme. The latter is particularly good for women over 60.

Wow, i've never heard of most of these. The only things I look at regularly are facebook and Gransnet. Oh and Amazon for shopping. Very occasioanally ebay. Used to like friends reunited till it was taken over and ruined - no longer exists now I think. I got in touch with several old friends through FR.

Gransnet, Facebook, International Women in Portugal. Wikipedia, and NHS site for health advice. BBC radio especially radio 4 podcasts.
Games BBO - bridge base online and two dots. (My GS says "Nanny your not playing that game again") I think i am loosing interest.
It was interesting so many list Mumsnet.

I spend a lot of time in HUKD. Apart from getting the best price for something I need some of the forums are very interesting and I've made several friends there. Have even had visits with a couple of them.
