Terms of endearment? [smile]

I sometimes call DH 'scrawny shanks'. My son also calls him 'the plastic Welshman’ because he has been away from Wales so long he has lost all his accent!

'You are a very naughty boy!' is wheeled out quite a lot in our house.

DH is also my 'Kitchen bitch' - he does most of the cooking, but this can make him a bit uppity sometimes!

'Plonker' and 'Old cow!' (said with an exaggerated Alf Garnett accent) were my dad's favourites and my mum called him 'Meldrew' when she was feeling particularly annoyed and subversive .

Yes, my DC have awful names for each other but I won't share them as no-one else would use them and I could be 'outed'

DH gave me some information this morning which turned out to be false - he did say that it could be wrong and I would call him a Welsh plonker.
I just called him Rodney. Very polite under the circumstances.

The original context is everything, but I won't bore you with the details of why we refer to clothes sizing as "fat bastard". We would only ever say it on our own or with the friends we were with when it was originally said. So you can guess our amusement at the line in The Full Monty "anti wrinkle cream they've got. But anti fat bastard they haven't"

I like anything which defies today's overdone Political Correctness. When my family call me rude names I take it as a term of endearment. If they were very polite I would know they are annoyed with me. And I give as good as I get.
We just have to be selective though, don't we. I can call my son a plonker or whatever, but would never say it to Mrs.Ponsonby down the road. (much as I might like to!)

Yes - and 'never in public' is the usual golden rule. I sometimes worry that I will forget that as I age and make some awful social blunders. I can hear my children saying 'You already have,' and making alzheimers jokes as I write ...

each to their own,we can be quite sarcastic but dont resort to name calling,certainly not offensive names .I wouldn't want my kids or GC to accept it as normal to name call folk for reasons that include looks or accents etc .Mind you we dont do overly lovey names either ,sets my teeth on edge when I hear grown up use baby names for each other

Oh dear paddyann you wouldn't want to be in my house when some friends visit. He's a brummi and she speaks in what I call Pit talk, she's from Doncaster, and just for our benefit and a good laugh they both ramp it up.
But I have to say he does a good impression of my sarf London accent.
