In Singapore 1969! I had gone out as a teacher to the Royal Naval infants school, he was a Foreign Office radio engineer attached to the British High Commission, and we lived in different flats in the same compound. I was 23 and he was 25. He asked me out to the cinema the evening before my birthday, and that was it really....engaged 6 weeks later, married in 1972 after we had returned to the UK, and still together 48 years later.
