I read that too SueDonim [the SI prisoner] just disgraceful that the authorities placed him in a womens prison.
Good Morning Saturday 22nd August 2026
What the heck?!
There is a thread about this on Mumsnet and I have totally lost the plot - even googling a definition takes me no further forward.
Am I just thick?
Why cannot we just accept people as they are, label-free, and with the freedom to enjoy anything they wish regardless of gender?
Why do folk have to take things to extremes: e.g. intact males wanting to be in female changing rooms?
A little less stridency and a more gentle approach seem better options.
I read that too SueDonim [the SI prisoner] just disgraceful that the authorities placed him in a womens prison.
That's very interesting and useful, SueDoku.
A very good explanation of just what this entails is here:

This is a very good article about transgenderism.

SueDonim, I already signed the petition against SI because I think it is dangerous as well as a nonense. However, I do think there are certain places like public toilets where it is possible to be overly worried. Sadly those who abuse the system like this end up ruining any tolerance for those who really struggle with gender identity.
If we move to SI for transgender women there will be nothing anyone can do to prevent such a situation.
SueDonim, indeed they were but this was a convicted paedophile with allegations of rape against him. It was the powers that be who failed that woman.
These female prison inmates were well and truly thrown under the bus of transgenderism.

TerriBull, I'm not sure why girls should worry about menstruating in "shared" toilets. It's not as if they even have to dispose of the soiled pads in a shared space if there is a bin in each toilet. As far as I am aware, all girls toilets have always had separate cubicles with closing doors. The only problem I can foresee is that if they need to wash the sink would be more public but most people I know would be reluctant to wash anywhere personal in a public space anyway.
We recently visited a school where the boys toilets were all in cubicles (no urinals at all) and each cubicle had a sink which made things very private.
Maybe if we are rethinking gender fluidity we should rethink the way cubicles in changing rooms, toilets etc are currently designed to take into account people's sensibilities. I also think it should be perfectly legal to ask that "sensitive" examinations are done by a female identifying as a female. Personally it wouldn't bother me either way provided they were qualified but I do think if you have the right to choose how you identify you should be allowed to choose who you identify your bits too!
just seen this fabulous thread on twitter

Luckygirl, one of my dds was the same. Never interested in 'girls' toys, hated having to wear dresses, liked all physical activities and rough and tumble, physically fearless.
Now happily married with 2 little ones, still can rarely be bothered with makeup etc. but always in dresses - though largely because of her hourglass figure. Funnily enough, her own little dd is decidedly 'girly'.
I dread to think what sort of insidious propaganda she'd be exposed to nowadays, instead of just being a 'tomboy'.
I went to an all girls school from age 11, but I do wonder how menstruating girls will feel if they don't have the privacy to change their sanitary wear in all female toilets. Do some senior schools have gender neutral toilets now I don't know ?
I haven't read the entire thread yet as it runs into 6 pages, therefore this may have already been brought up, Andrew Gilligan did an article in the Sunday Times producing evidence to show that far more females have been assaulted in gender neutral changing areas at swimming pools and sports centres than those where men and women are segregated. That's NOT to say that the assaults were carried out by trans women, but simply to point out that there is more of an opportunity for an assault in such an environment. In creating such areas girls and women will be denied safe areas to dress and undress, which could render them vulnerable. The issue of females transitioning into men is hardly likely to endanger men, I'd never say never, but it is far more likely to be the other way round.
I'm going back to read all the posts now.
paddyann there is a new study in the transitioning of young people that has been done in at the brown university It called ROGD Rapid onset gender dysphoria.
The university pulled it link to the research due to the pressure from trans activists but there's now alot of other Drs speaking out saying that ROGD needs to be studied more

There seems to be far too much pandering to tiny minorities at the expense of The Common Good.
Btw, my MP has written back in response to my letter of concern about the potential threat to women's safe places from some intact men. Very non committal, to paraphrase, he 'supports the right of people to live the life they choose' and 'feels sure the consultation period will allow concerns about safety to be addressed'. Wishy washy, I call it
I wish I thought that the use of toilets was the real issue here. That deflects from the whole serious issue.
"But since you ask, I would define an intact male as one who could get an erection."
Which would pretty well rule out anyone on hormone treatment. Also one going to use the toilet for a pee, they can't do both at once :-)
sorry it was Nanasam, but she had put your name at the front so I got confused.
But since you ask, I would define an intact male as one who could get an erection
ygg the quote you attributed to me wasn’t posted by me - for one thing I never use the word ‘pervert’
It is insignificant now.
If the law is passed, it will be legal for men who are not genuinely transgender and who look as much like a man as Muscato does, to use women's facilities.
I did, and I see an exhibitionist making points for political purposes. Compared to the number of transgender people I know, that is insignificant.
It wouldn't bother me if a transgender person came in a ladies toilet, I might ask if they had made a mistake, but then I would go into a cubicle as I expect she would. It is considerably more difficult in a men's toilet where there are limited cubicles and the men perform in public.
On the continent, unisex toilets with all cubicles are not uncommon.
It must be horrendous to feel you are in the wrong body to such an extent that you go through the complete transition process.
On top of all that you are likely to deal with prejudice which seems to be even worse in this country compared to more enlightened countries like New Zealand.
