Heating on yet?

Ours runs on a thermostat, so at the moment rarely comes on, though there is a boost facility, and I have used that a couple of times recently when it has felt a bit chilly.

Mine comes on morning and evening. I feel,the cold and have resorted to a hot water bottle some nights.

Moved to a bungalow
Brilliant to heat
Turn on for couple hours morning then night time
And it's toasty to go
Love it

Just for an hour now and again , this is a very snug flat even though I live in rainy, but beautiful Lancashire!

Being right on the promenade we're having our heating on for a couple of hours in the evening if the weather's been windy.
The temperature is okay most of the time, but if there's a wind coming in off the sea, the house gets really chilled!
The radiator in the bedroom is still turned off though, we both like a cold bedroom!
No heating on in the mornings yet, but I don't think it will be long!

Our thermostat is set at 18 degrees all the year so only comes on occasionally at the moment.

This always seems to turn into a competition at this time of the year - conversations along the lines of “I haven’t switched my heating on yet have you” quickly followed by “have you REALLY?? We just have a blanket over our legs/never have it on before......whatever”. Personally I am happy to have it on once the weather becomes damp and the washing doesn’t quite come off the line perfectly dry.

Recall switching it on in august when it got chilly at night, and we live in the sunny south east. Certainly had it on since then when its got cold. Mainly evenings/ mornings. We do have a cold house, actually its freezing. I treated myself to a nice wool blanket from NT last year, and have already used it.

Our heating (water and space) remains on all year.

Our energy (gas and electricity) bill is fixed* at £48 per month for our three-bedroomed detached home that is maintained at 20C minimum year round.

*just fixed for 2 years by OVO in the face of the threatened price cap.

Insulation and our NW-facing conservatory seems to help.

Have to confess, having moved to a new flat, I don't know how to set the timer or where it is! so am just controlling the thermostat and turning off at night. Boiler will be serviced soon, maybe they'll be able to help?

If it feels chilly around 5 or 6 pm, it goes on then for a few hours. Haven't had it on any earlier yet.
We operate ours manually, with a thermostat - no set times.

I am generally quite a chilly person nowadays - hate feeling cold - but I do find I don't need as much heating during the day as I used to - not since I acquired a couple of padded gilets and my lovely house boots from Celtic Sheepskin - both some time ago now. I live in these in winter!

Up here in Scotland my heating has been on and off for several weeks, we have even had frost in the mornings!!!!

We don't do a timer, we just set to the number and it comes on any time of day or year.

DH and I have commenced our usual 'dance', I feel the cold so every time I pass the thermo I turn it up, yup, you've guessed it, every time he passes he turns it down! Hey ho!

Seamen here Nanna but no longer do I have to sits wrapped in a blanket with a hot water bottle he has at last understood I feel the cold due mainly to a medical condition. we have a woodburner which I light most nights and then find its still in in the morning and the place is lovely and warm. We have heating. For a back up when it's really really cold, according to H!

No it's not Seaman it's meant to be same here!

I don't have central heating, but I have certainly had to switch the electric fire on more than once in the evenings recently.

norah don't you find you want the house cooler at night?

No, humptydumpty, I like the cosy feel of 21-23, dries the damp. Our home is very old, built a bit 'sturdy' and seems to hold the heat well, once heated. We leave the thermostat alone.

We open our bedroom window at night as we hate it hot when we are in bed!

My heating is on every day now. Im dreading winter, its so cold out already as it is blowing a gale tonight.
