When I was young I used to feel sorry for old people who just stayed in - even at weekends
. How boring their lives must be, I would think, how sad that they've got nowhere to go, nothing to do in the evenings. I never for one moment thought I'd ever reach a time when it was actually my choice to stay in, dressed in my slobs, feet up, reading, sewing, watching TV. But I can't think of any better way to spend the evening nowadays. The last time I went out for the evening was to a craft class in June, run by a local fabric shop.
