Just come back from the hospital where they ask you to strip down to bra and pants. I don't wear pants I wear knickers. Apart from the gentlemen here do you wear pants or knickers.smile

I have 'knickers' for Doctor and Hospital apppointments, otherwise I'm always commando!

Oh I love Leon he's great. The dirty looks she gives him. Hahaha

Marmight Wed 06-Dec-17 13:52:23

I assumed that they were called drawers because they were drawn up or on.
I can't let the word pants pass my lips. Gives me the shudders, so knickers they have to be although my family here in Oz call them undies. I may go down that route ....
Leon on Gogglebox goes on about June's 'Knicks'. Go on June, show us yer knicks ?

I googled it, it's because they were drawn up over the legs

NannyTee Wed 06-Dec-17 13:30:52

Maybe cos that's where they're kept grin

grannyinmypocket Wed 06-Dec-17 13:25:20

Wonder why they were called "drawers"

Pants, then men in my household wear trousers - only American men wear pants! My mother said knickers was a ‘common’ word ????

I just call then pants or knickers. A nurse I worked with used to call them 'knicky-knacky-noos' or 'knicky-knacky-noodles'!
I agree that panties are most definitely for perverts.

I referred to my 3 year old GS 's undergarments as knickers once. I received a withering look " Ladies wear knickers, boys wear pants" so that told me!!

conners13 Wed 06-Dec-17 12:28:49

Drawers, always makes everyone laugh

RosemaryAnne Wed 06-Dec-17 12:19:54

Knickers. :-)

MissAdventure Wed 06-Dec-17 12:15:45

Terry Wogan introduced me to directoire knickers.. they used to be mentioned a lot on his radio show.

NannyTee Wed 06-Dec-17 12:08:40

My DH says " where's me trolleys " sometimes haha

chicken Wed 06-Dec-17 12:06:56

Pants every time. Knickers to me are the things that were referred to as E.T.Bs in my young days---elastic top and bottom, usually peach shiny fabric. Weren't there some called "directoire" knickers?

dumdum Wed 06-Dec-17 12:00:00

Pants..Knickers reminds me of the evil gym. knickers we had at school. Even had little pockets in them!

MissAdventure Wed 06-Dec-17 11:55:29

Better late than never. grin

Grampie Wed 06-Dec-17 11:51:21

I’ve just learned that I’m a perv!

Grannies4thewin Wed 06-Dec-17 11:44:52

Nothing at allwink

grannyinmypocket Wed 06-Dec-17 11:30:10

Knickers, or if your Scottish breeks,

Grannyguitar Wed 06-Dec-17 11:23:08

Midgey, far better to be Harvest Festivals, than American Knickers (One Yank and they're off!)

Dharmacat Wed 06-Dec-17 11:10:27

.Knickers - but, to me, the modern term "underwear" in TV programmes and novels meaning just knickers/pants etc is odd and rather coy. In my younger days underwear was a collective noun for all garments worn under clothes. i.e. knickers , bras, vests and underskirts/ slips.

MissAdventure Wed 06-Dec-17 11:03:55

grin

oldgaijin Wed 06-Dec-17 11:02:01

I wear drawers, sometimes ladies underpinnings but most often pants. Never panties...sounds like those cheesecutter things that disappear up where they shouldn't.

MargaretinNorthant Wed 06-Dec-17 11:00:04

midgey
lol. mine also!!

00mam00 Wed 06-Dec-17 10:54:50

Knickers, men wear pants or briefs.
My OH says ‘red hat no drawers. And we always said don’t wear patent leather shoes or people will see your knickers reflected in them.wink
