Would you let your 25 year-old son see you naked?

I realise this is a slightly odd question but it has not come from nowhere but because Birds of A Feather Star Linda Robson said yesterday that she lets her son so he can see what real women look like. While I applaud the idea of the normalisation of women rather than the airbrushed celebrity look that is pushed in the media, I can't help thinking this is rather distasteful. Am I wrong? www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/linda-robson-lets-25-year-11721558

Naturists have no problem with this

Isn't this a question of self-respect and dignity. Yours as well as his. When children are small it's good to be relaxed at home but when they start to make their own life and decisions I think respect of boundaries is the best course.

My son is 30 and hell no I would not let him see me naked!!!!
It's bad enough he can see me sunning on the deck in a sarong or bathing suit!
Good lord I don't want to scar him for life!

NannyTee Thu 21-Dec-17 13:17:55

One of my earliest memories is running out of my bedroom and smacking into my naked Dad who was walking out the loo half asleep ( in the 60s) I remember thinking "so that's where he keeps his spanners) blush

Dignity in the Robson household would not go amiss
Yuk and sad, she is no 20 year old.

Smurf52 Thu 21-Dec-17 13:34:35

Definitely not. Doesn't seem right. It brings back a memory of seeing one of my twin sons aged around 16 come out of the shower. He quickly put a towel in front of his privates but I was looking at the muscular body of a man not my little boy any more!

dirgni Thu 21-Dec-17 13:45:37

Definitely NOT and I'm sure he wouldn't want even though he's 44 and a doctor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

dirgni Thu 21-Dec-17 13:46:52

Should have said " wouldn't want to" sorry everyone one!

Willow500 Thu 21-Dec-17 14:06:09

Absolutely not - I think I once shared a bath with my eldest son when he was a baby but I value my privacy far too much - and as for anyone being in the bathroom when I'm on the loo shock

Saggi Thu 21-Dec-17 14:17:50

I quite like my son .... why on earth would I traumatise him?!

MissAdventure Thu 21-Dec-17 14:18:45

grin

AlisonKF Thu 21-Dec-17 14:38:49

Again, absolutely not. How can this even be asked? Apart from the gross embarrassment, such a sight which could never be unseen, would tarnish my sons' memory of me, I hope.

Kim19 Thu 21-Dec-17 14:39:15

I suspect if either of my sons or myself were inadvertently caught up in this unfortunate situation it would be a simple case of 'Woops, sorry' and we'd address the situation immediately. Accidents happen...... The prospect holds no great shock/horror attitude. More like 'dearie me!' I also take on board a response suggesting carer or emergency help situation. We really have to loosen up on this. My guess is it seldom happens. Hasn't happened in our house yet but I try never to say never.

NannyTee Thu 21-Dec-17 14:44:24

Gone right off that Linda Robson angry

radicalnan Thu 21-Dec-17 15:42:48

I have been depressed since seeing Linda Robson with her clothes on in the new 'Bird's of a Feather'...how old she looks and the others too................I rely on my telly for entertaiment not for use as a mirror. Pity her poor son.

Quite sad to read the number of people who've said they don't want to scare their DS by being naked in front of him. Older bodies; well, they aren't the best thing in the world to look at for anybody (actually, neither are younger bodies come to that!) but neither are they THAT disgusting. I would be uncomfortable parading around naked, but neither would I be shocked or horrified at a passing glimpse. Also, does this mean you would never allow your DS to help you on hte loo? What if it is needed at some point in the future? Or will that always continue to fall to DDs?

Yes, I hope
and No I hope

MissAdventure Thu 21-Dec-17 15:51:46

I think the 'not wanting to frighten the kids' is tongue in cheek.

sarahellenwhitney Thu 21-Dec-17 16:20:31

Could put the guy off women for life.
A case of what you see now could look like todays 20 year old in forty years time.
Not a pretty sight.grin

Lorelei Thu 21-Dec-17 16:51:45

No is the simple answer - I don't have a son and am by no means prudish but I wouldn't inflict the sight of my naked body on anyone at the moment, and even if I looked good for my age I would not want to embarrass myself or the adult child. Each to their own.

Luckylegs9 Thu 21-Dec-17 17:28:55

Weird, I have often thought she is too much involved in her grown up children's lives. I would find it intrusive. Why would a 25 year old want to see his mother naked? I understand she does not let her own husband see her without clothes , which makes it all the stranger.

rafichagran Thu 21-Dec-17 18:35:46

No, and I dont think he would like it either.

NannyTee Thu 21-Dec-17 18:46:25

It's very strange indeed. I didn't know that.

Jalima1108 Thu 21-Dec-17 18:54:02

sarahhellenwhiteney especially if you were nude except for a Christmas hat! like this one tchgrin

I would be buying him a backpack and sending him off around the world so that he could get a few different experiences of life at 25!
It all sounds a bit weird to me.
