Towards the end of my son's wedding reception, 2.5 years ago, a young woman (mid twenties?) came across to me to say goodbye and thank me for a lovely evening, She then spoiled it by telling me that I was lovely and reminded her of her grandma. I was 54 ffs! Still, I put on my best old woman voice, smiled and said "thank you, how sweet."
Last year, at the supermarket checkout, the young cashier asked me what I would be doing for the rest of the day. I hate that sort of question, so made up an answer, to which she replied that her grandma would probably be doing something similar!
My mum commented last year on how young my elder brother still looks. Fair enough, but did she really need to add that I look my age?
