M0nica that made me laugh. My daughter’s 3 year old is a thin child with no bottom worth mentioning and his trousers slip down all the time so she likes to match his underpants to his socks?

Bras
(106 Posts)Good morning, I have been doing a necessary job. Sorting out my underwear drawer, only because it woudnt shut properly. And I was just curious as to how many bras and pairs of knickers does one really need?Any thoughts. My husband likes me to wear matching bra and pants, hence the overstuffed drawer
I have hundreds of both unfortunately. I buy in hope and the bras always end up digging into me or giving me four boobs etc. I clear out regularly but am too mean to throw all newish bras too often. I've just discovered sports bras so I'll probably end up buying more of those. I have hundreds of knickers, all big and comfy. There are a few at the back of another drawer if I want to dress up but they aren't pleasant to wear! I actually went to Rigby and Peller, wasn't impressed, they recommended a bra which wasnt any better really and when I got home, they'd given me the wrong size so I sent it back. As someone else said, I love to look at the matching knickers, but they don't hold everything in!
Plain and simple for me. I used to buy fancy coloured sets, but the bras often didn't fit properly, made me either too flat or too floppy or spilling out.
So now I've found a bra in the size that fits properly, I've got 2 and order more when necessary.
Pants - plain white John Lewis briefs, 10 pairs.
All my underwear is usually from M&S. bought a pack of briefs ( they called them shorts) yesterday from F&F because they had a pretty design! Have lots knickers - My daughters call them pants - so do I usually. Never counted how many - I use the darker ones on home days and the lighter pretty ones for going out! Don’t know why! Have 4 white cotton, no underwire bras - for every day and 3 nylon lacy ones for going out, all white. All chosen to please me. My DH seems to think I look ok whatever I wear, underneath or on top - fortunately!
Lady Gracie, M&S are famously inept at bra fitting- go to a proper lingerie shop. Or even Debenhams is usually ok.
Have 8 bras but I am big busted unfortunately, and they tend to sag after a while, white beige, red one and blue.
All my knicks are black or beige and they are hold in tummy ones from M&S with short legs lovely and comfy, if you wear a pair of slacks or jeans pulls your bottom up and shapes it. Buy new bras every 2 months or so.
Bought my gd Calvin Kline bra and matching knickers for Christmas soooo expensive.
I have one bra for every day of the week and two to three pants for each day. I like to have clean, laundered, comfortable undies! ll from M&S.
I've got some matching sets but often forget to match them up!! Oh, dear, must try harder... ?
I've got plenty of non matching, too. Every so often, have a clear out and start again.
I have black, white & nude in t shirt bras which I always match up with good old M&S knickers, then have quite a few matching lacey sets. I always go to Bravissimo to be fitted and if you get them home and they are uncomfortable they are always happy to exchange or refund. I have lost nearly 2 stone in weight so had to have all new bras, very expensive to replace.
I’m with Anniefrance, far too many of both. I like them to match up at least colour wise, so usually buy the matching knickers if there are matching knickers, or wear the same colour knickers.
Feel odd all day if my bra and pants aren’t the same colour!! Am pretty boring though and stick to cream, black or flesh in both! Like to look nice when I strip off at night for my husband, even if it is only for two very quick seconds! He has said that if I starred in dance of the seven veils it would be an epic film!
Bras -2 black + black camisole, 2 flesh coloured +camisoles one white plus camisole 1 rose pink and one that used to be white but washing with my jeans made it mostly pale blue ( I wish all parts of the bra took the same amount of colour!). Pants black, flesh colour and 1 rose pink, about 9 pairs, plus some cute ones from Primark for wear under nightwear.
I just did a clear out of socks and discovered I had 73 pairs, some new or hardly worn. Why? Is there a home for unwanted socks?
LadyGracie you should try John Lewis or Bravissimo. John Lewis have an excellent bra fitting service. Bravissimo is for the bigger bust and they usually come up trumps as well. They tend to look at you rather than measure but it seems to work. I have not been there in a long time so it may have changed.
I'm a boring white only person. It's my feel good factor. Since I don't do a wash every week nowadays, I have to have a reasonable stock. Change pants daily and bra every other so 20/10 ish.
You made me laugh Jane10! I was thinking the same thing. Could be a niche market - matching vest and pants for men? It would do nothing for me!
These days it has to be Tesco or M&S, usually white, and goes in the washing machine.
Yester year it was Gossard in various colours. Bra and pants to match. Just had to buy whenever they brought out something different.
I've only got 3 decent bras and couple of reserve ones. Plus 3 of those pull-over-your-head comfort ones.
There is only one rule, - they must be colourful. Can't bear white underwear which ends up grey.
But I've got shedloads of knickers in all bright colours and patterns.
Nothing really matches, but it doesn't matter as I no longer have a DH nor BP (beloved partner) so no-one sees.
Just counted....24 pairs knickers ( white..black...nude) and 2 nude bras 3. White bras and one black! Seems about right!
Oh and Auntbet.... I’ve just binned all my husbands white underwear... bought him all black...yes MATCHING vest and pants. He doesn’t complain or else I’d make him get off his lazy backside and buy his own...which he has never done in his life . Went straight from his mother doing it to me doing it.!!!
I have 8 pairs of light as a feather, easily rinsed through and dried, yet reasonably shaping, big knickers - all black as I hate white bras going grey. The pants are kept exclusively for packing in a suitcase and it works really well. Otherwise I have a miscellany of knicks
Agree with MOnica, always wear matching sets for my own pleasure not DH's. Have 2 drawers full, all sorts of colours for matching clothes. Never counted them. Also have a couple of very plain white sets for any doctor visits as mentioned above.
I have 3 Prima Donna Deauville bras, 11 from Bravissimo with matching pants and 3 Fantasie from Debenhams. Buy packs of plain white midi hi-leg pants from M&S and have about a dozen pairs of 'silk' and lace fancy pants in various patterns and styles including two thongs which I wear on nudist beaches.
All but one bra were bought last November after so got tired of straps slipping and double boobs so I gave the nice ones to a charity. I'm 36G in Prima and Bravissimo and 36GG in Fantasie. Prima are sold in R&P and that's where I bought mine. £153.80 for two of them but so worth it - they have tiny gemstones on the appliqued straps. Fantasie are cheaper at about £25/30 on average and great support and value.
There's an article in the DM today about the latest Prima Donna bra.
Hildagard, why not shock your husband by wearing non-matching underwear? He might find it very stimulating! Have to say that I have been bought underwear, and I told the person in question, that as it was clearly a gift to himself, he could wear it, but I would certainly not! I would never let a man tell me what to wear.
one drwaer full of black pants and bra sets in different styles and one drawer full of matching coloured sets.My GD recenntly got her first bra and was insistent on matching sets like granny has .Matching is nothing to do with my OH I wear them because I like to feel good .
I have umpteen pairs of pants and probably a dozen bras.
Last week I went to M&S for a bra fitting......why oh why did I bother!? 18 bras later none fitted me properly and the assistant suggested I went to Bravissimo or Debenhams ?☹️
I couldn't believe that out of the hundreds of bras none were suitable! She said I was 36G never been a G in my life!, 'full at the bottom ' and a 'balcony bra' should be suitable. It wasn't and neither was a full cup so I guess my boobs don't conform to M&S's ideas!
